Lee Seung Gi is one of the renowned actors in the entertainment industry of South Korea. Hook Entertainment and Lee Seung Gi have been in the media for a long time due to legal controversy.
Lee Seung Gi has earlier asked for a transparent record of his music to Hook Entertainment, he also mentioned that he has not received a penny for his music.
Hook Entertainment in response denied the allegations and insisted that they have paid the actor everything he owed. Later on, the representative of Lee Seung Gi released an additional statement that the actor has not received anything from the agency for his music.
After the statement was out, the CEO of Hook Entertainment apologized and stated that she will “take full responsibility for the dispute with Lee Seung Gi.”
The company, Hook Entertainment, has paid the actor Lee Seung Gi all the amounts that were unpaid which include 5.4 billion KRW (~ $4.1 million USD). After this Lee Seung Gi, himself came forward and updated the situation through his Instagram account.

Lee Seung Gi on Hook Entertainment’s Payment Controversy.

“Hello, this is Lee Seung Gi.
I haven’t been feeling great, to be honest. I’ve been living my days in a cycle of anger over betrayal, frustration over the letdown, resentment one day, and self-blame the next. I came to know this morning via text message that my bank account had received a deposit of nearly 5 billion won (about $3.8 million).
It appears that Hook Entertainment believes that I filed a lawsuit merely to obtain money. Under the guise of paying the unpaid earnings, they are attempting to end this lawsuit unilaterally.
Up until this point, I was completely unaware that I had to get music profits. I put up with being called a “minus vocalist” for 18 years (meaning negative profit margin). In this case, it was not the unpaid wages that prompted me to initiate a complaint against Hook. It is wrong for someone else’s greed to take advantage of someone else’s toil and sweat.
Currently, I have 5 billion won. Of course, I have no idea how this sum was determined. But since I cannot comprehend Hook’s methodology for calculating, I believe I will continue to argue my case in court. I want to start by apologizing for wearing down the audience who is watching this fight because it will get boring.
However, I can guarantee that regardless of the total amount of outstanding profits, I will donate every penny of it. I will return the remaining funds to the community after deducting the legal assistance expenses from the 5 billion won that was deposited today.
I didn’t make this choice in a single day. When I made the decision to take on Hook, I also made the decision to donate all of the money I would make from the fight to those in need.
Up until this point, I was unaware of my music earnings. Of course, I consider the 5 billion won I received today to be a very significant and precious sum of money. It is made up of the perspiration from my adolescence, my 20s, and 30s. But if this money can help people who are more in need than I am, my satisfaction and value will much outweigh the value of only 5 billion won.
I will begin meeting with representatives of charities the following week to decide on my exact intentions. There are numerous persons whose physical limitations make it even more difficult for them to move. Many people have dreams but are forced to give them up in the middle due to their circumstances.
There are some people who, even when their lives are in danger, cannot receive the appropriate care. Even if 5 billion won might not be sufficient to assist all of those people, I will nonetheless start by moving forward a little bit.
And most importantly, a lot of people helped me get through this situation. You shared my wrath with me and comforted me, which gave me a great deal of strength. I appreciate you letting me know that I am loved once more. I’ll try to at least somewhat repay that love by helping others.
