Lee Seung Gi sues Hook Entertainment CEO and Directors.

The conflict between Hook Entertainment and the actor Lee Seung Gi continues. After a long ongoing legal conflict between the two, Hook Entertainment gave Lee Seung Gi the total amount that was meant, and later on, the actor announced that he will donate all of it for a good cause.

Lee Seung Gi has made legal accusations against Hook Entertainment‘s CEO Kwon Jin Young and the former and present directors. On December 22, the legal representative of Lee Seung Gi gave a statement related to the legal complaint.

They said, “We filed a lawsuit against the CEO of Hook Entertainment as well as the organization’s previous and present directors at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office this morning.”

They continued by saying, “As it has been widely publicized, Hook withheld the information that Lee Seung Gi made music income for about 18 years following his debut and did not compensate Lee Seung Gi.

Due to our allegations that the finance directors and CEO of Hook Entertainment, Kwon Jin Young, violated the Act on the Aggravated Punishment, etc. of Specific Economic Crimes (occupational embezzlement) and (fraud) , we filed a court complaint against them.”

Lee Seung was not only aware of his music profits but also he had been deceived about his modeling profits.

In relation to this they said, “According to a recent investigation, Lee Seung was duped and cheated out of a percentage of his modeling pay for advertisements by both the past and present directors of Hook Entertainment.

For many years, Lee Seung believed that 10% of the revenues he received for modeling in advertisements went toward “agency fees,” but in reality, the former and present directors of Hook Entertainment split this sum among themselves.

Merely after Lee Seung voiced concern about this did Hook Entertainment ultimately acknowledge this reality and pay Lee Seung nearly 630 million won (about $494,195 USD) in only advertisement fees on December 16 KST, excluding any music revenues.”

Lee Seung and Hook have never come to an understanding about music fees and payments. Despite this, on the morning of December 16, 2022, Hook transferred roughly 4.81 billion won (about $3.8 million) in pending music and advertising payments without authorization and sued Lee Seung for a declaration that he owed nothing.

They further gave a statement saying, “The settlement money that Hook Entertainment one-sidedly transferred to Lee Seung is dramatically different from the amount that Lee Seung is aware of as the correct amount.

Therefore, Lee Seung will respond to Hook Entertainment’s claims by filing a claim against Hook Entertainment and its related parties for his unpaid music profits and damages suffered from their illegal activities.”
