Story Details

Marvel’s Ironheart will primarily serve as a more in-depth origin story for Riri Williams, although it’s probable that the series will share some themes with Armour Wars, another Iron Man spin-off that will air on Disney Plus.

Don Cheadle will return to that show as James Rhodes (also known as War Machine) for a story that examines what happens when Tony Stark’s technology ends up in the wrong hands.

Although Riri Williams may easily fit into such a story, neither Thorne nor Cheadle has officially confirmed that they will work together on both projects.

Who Is Riri Williams?

Riri Williams is a very recent character, having made her first appearance in a full-length comic book storyline in Invincible Iron Man #9, published in 2016, less than five years ago.

However, in the short time that has passed, the character has emerged as a major force, participating in the significant crossover event Secret Empire, becoming a member of the young adult superhero team The Champions, and taking the helm of her own standalone title.

Riri was only 15 years old when she was initially introduced, but she had already made a name for herself as a successful scientist and had received a full scholarship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Her highly developed intellect inspires her to create and construct a suit of armor resembling Tony Stark‘s, and she quickly attracts the attention of the millionaire.

Riri gains a significant new ally when he finally gives his approval for her to continue using the suit; of course, this origin will need to be changed in the Disney Plus series in light of Stark’s passing at the conclusion of Avengers: Endgame.
