The first trailer for “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” was released on Tuesday. It opens with Morales – one of the multiple Spider-Men around the universe – talking to his mother, Rio, while looking out over a view of New York City.

From there, the friendly neighborhood superhero dives and swings through the city and beyond, joining Gwen Stacy/Spider-Gwen on a journey through what appears to be a wormhole-like tunnel that spans several universes. Miles meets new and unusual Spider-People while traveling around the multiverse.

When the Spot (Jason Schwartzman) threatens the whole multiverse, the Spider-People differ on what to do. This leads to an epic battle between Miles and the other Spider-People at the end of the trailer.

Aside from the surreal visuals, the film aims to keep the emotional focus on Miles Morales. The recent trailer will focus on his connection with his family, his relationship with himself, and the person he wishes to be in the world.

There is a rush of colorful visuals in the new Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse trailer, and the action seems promising. Unfortunately, the film also brings back a favorite scene from the original film: Miles is floating in the air, and the camera is flipped.
