Vikings Valhalla Season 2 Filming Status, and Other Details

The popular historical drama series on Netflix ‘Vikings: Valhalla’ will soon return for Season 2 to the streaming site with a lot of new drama, new leadership, and new politics with of course new fights.

Jeb Stuart created the series and it is preceded by Michael Hirst’s historical drama series ‘Vikings’ which ran from 2013 to 2020 on History till 6A and on after that on Amazon Prime Video.

The plot of ‘Vikings’ is inspired by the sagas of a Viking named Ragnar Lodbrok, a renowned legendary Norse hero. Mark Murdoch and Cáit Collins have produced the series.

The first season of ‘Vikings: Valhalla’ premiered on Netflix on February 25, 2022.

The premise of the series is set after over a hundred years of the plot of ‘Vikings’. The series chronicles the clash between Vikings and English royals and the conflict between the Christian and pagan beliefs.

Leif Erikson, Harald Hardrada, Freydís Eiríksdóttir, and others go through an epic journey from Kattegat to England joining the battles of survival and glory.

The first season of the series ended with a number of events that will most likely be given a return look in the coming season. The first season ended with Jarl Haakon meeting her end.

With the other previous major characters, all returning in the Vikings Valhalla Season 2, the plot of this new season will also presumably bring the character of legendary Viking warrior Eric the Red.

Leif Erikson is an explorer of Greenland and the son of the founder of the first-ever Norse settlement in Greenland Erik the Red. He was played by Australian actor Sam Corlett in the first season of the series who will also reprise this role in the second season.

In the 2020 Australian mystery thriller movie ‘The Dry’ Corlett portrayed a younger Luke Hadler, the older version of whom is starred by Martin Dingle-Wall.

He played Caliban, a prince of Hell, in the popular supernatural horror series on Netflix ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina‘.

A Norse woman named Freydís Eiríksdóttir is played by Swedish model and actress Frida Gustavsson in the series. She starred in the Italian horror fantasy movie ‘Dampyr’ as Tesla Dubcek in 2022.

King of Norway Harald Sigurdsson is played by English actor Leo Suter. He played Trevor Beckman in the 2016 American romantic fantasy movie ‘Fallen’. He also played Edward Drummond in season two of the historical tv series ‘Victoria’ in 2017 and Jack Yorke in the British thriller series ‘Clique’ the next year.

Daniel Beecham was cast in the British historical series ‘Beecham House’ and Young Stringer in another historical serial ‘Sanditon‘ in 2019. Suter is also set to star in the upcoming season of HBO’s ‘House of the Dragon, the spin-off prequel of ‘Game of Thrones.

The second season of the series with a third one got renewed in March of 2022. The second season will arrive in 2023.
