Dead to Me Season 3 Release Date, and Everything About the Final Season

Liz Feldman created the black comedy series Dead to Me and is returning with Season 3 this November with some new drama and surprise. The critically acclaimed series has also been popular with common viewers.

The show has received a total of four Primetime Emmy Awards in the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards. The third season, which is set to be the final one, was renewed on July 6, 2020, by Netflix.

Filming of the Dead to Me Season 3 began on 7th May of the next year. Though the decline of main cast member Applegate’s health caused the production to be stopped in mid-August. The filming wrapped on April 25, 2022.

Primary Plotline of Dead to Me Season 3:

At the center of the story, there are Jen and Judy, two women whom fate has brought together and entangled them in one thread.

Jen and Judy met in a grief support group where Jen has come to cope with the death of her husband who has been killed by a hit-and-run driver and Judy are there apparently after her fiancé’s death.

The two soon build a close relationship. But it is Judy who is the hit-and-run driver responsible for the death of Jen’s husband. The second season of the series ended with a huge cliffhanger which is why the third season is more awaited.

There would have been no ‘Dead to Me’ without Applegate to play Jen. Applegate is a veteran actress who has won a number of prestigious awards.

In 1991 she starred as Sue Ellen Crandell in the coming-of-age black comedy ‘Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead. Christine Montgomery was cast in the 2003 romantic comedy ‘View from the Top’.

Other films in which she starred include ‘The Rocker’, ‘Going the Distance, ‘Vacation’, ‘Going the Distance, ‘Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, ‘Bad Moms’, ‘Crash Pad’ etc.

She also starred in the tv series ‘Married… with Children, ‘Jesse’, ‘Samantha Who?’, ‘Up All Night’ etc.

Linda Cardellini-

American actress Linda Cardellini was cast in the series as the other protagonist Judy. Cardellini starred in a number of films and tv series.

In 2005 she played the role of Cassie Cartwright in the neo-Western romantic movie ‘Brokeback Mountain’. In the 2011 independent movie ‘Return’ she starred as Kelli. Also in 2019, she was cast as Anna Garcia in the supernatural horror movie ‘The Curse of La Llorona’.

In this children’s horror series ‘Bone Chillers’ Cardellini played Sarah in 1996. From 1999 to 2000 she portrayed Lindsay Weir in the teen comedy series ‘Freaks and Geeks.

Samantha Taggart starred in the popular medical drama series ‘ER’ from 2003 to 2009. Her other television credits are ‘Mad Men, ‘Sanjay and Craig’, and ‘Bloodline’.

James Marsden-

Judy’s ex-fiancé Steve Wood who is an attorney involved with Greek Mafia and his semi-identical twin brother Ben Wood who was introduced in the second season has been played by American actor James Marsden.

Marsden portrayed Scott Summers aka Cyclops in the 2000 superhero movie ‘X-Men‘. In the DC superhero movie ‘Superman Returns‘ he played Richard White in 2006.

In 2007 he starred as Corny Collins in the musical comedy movie ‘Hairspray’. Playing Jack Lime Marsden was cast in the 2013 satirical comedy movie ‘Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues. The same year he also played John F. Kennedy, the youngest president of America, in the historical drama ‘The Butler.

From 2012 to 2013 Marsden played the recurring character of Criss Cross in the satirical sitcom ’30 Rock.

He has also been starring in the neo-Western dystopian sci-fi series ‘Westworld‘ since 2016 as the main character Teddy Flood. He has also starred as the main cast member Stu Redman in the post-apocalyptic fantasy miniseries ‘The Stand’ from 2020 to 2021.

Jen’s real estate business partner cum friend Christopher Doyle is played by American actor Max Jenkins in the series. Jenkins previously appeared in the films ‘Those People’, ‘The Mess He Made’, ‘Plus One and in the series High Maintenance’, ‘The Mysteries of Laura’, ‘Orange Is the New Black, and ‘Special’.

Sam McCarthy-

Jen’s older son Charlie Harding is played by American actor Sam McCarthy in the series. He appeared in the films ‘All These Small Moments’ and ’18 to Party’. McCarthy also played Sam Barber Jr. as a recurring cast member in the American thriller series ‘Condor’ since 2018.

Other cast members who will most likely return in the upcoming season are Luke Roessler (Jen’s younger son Henry), Diana Maria Riva and Brandon Scott (police detective Ana Perez and Nick Prager), Katey Sagal (Judy’s mother Eleanor Hale, etc.

Dead to Me Season 3 is set to release on November 17, 2022, on Netflix.
