Netflix released a trailer for the upcoming episodes today, emphasizing a basic truth: the series will end with a bang. The plot will again follow two buddies who bonded on their belief that they were above the law.

The Season 3 and final season trailer for Dead to Me reveals the aftermath of James Marsden’s Steve death, as another dramatic crash impacts the destiny of their ride-or-die connection.

Everything seemed to have reached a breaking point, with Jen & Judy willing to sacrifice their lives for their bond, especially after the police uncovered Steve’s body.

Now that the FBI has taken over Steve’s murder case, Jen must confront her participation in the crime, while Detective. Perez (Diana Maria Riva) works to cover up her own.

Meanwhile, Judy is dealing with her problem when “an unknown force” from her past threatens her life. And don’t worry, Michelle will appear in Judy’s life again during Season 3.

We also saw Jen’s son, Charlie, discover a letter she sent to Judy, confessing her involvement in a murder. Will he open the letter in Season 3 and discover the truth?

Previously, Liz Feldman, the series creator, told Deadline that the intention was never for Dead to Me to continue very long, so three seasons seemed about appropriate.

However, Feldman also stated that the series finale came to her strongly during the previous season, allowing her to design season 3 in a way that satisfactorily closes the show.

The Entire Cast is Returning

In addition to Applegate, Cardellini, and Perez, viewers can expect to see more of Jen’s children, Charlie and Henry, since both Sam McCarthy and Luke Roessler are set to return.

James Marsden will also make a return. However, based on the horrific automobile crash he gets into in the finale, it’s unclear how big of a part Ben will play in season 3.
