In 1991 Hayek moved to Hollywood and came to prominence with roles in movies such as Desperado (1995), From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Dogma (1999), and Wild Wild West (1999).
Hayek’s breakthrough role was in the 2002 movie Frida as Mexican painter Frida Kahlo for which she was nominated in the category of Best Actress for an Academy Award, Golden Globe Award, BAFTA Award, and Screen Actors Guild Award.
