Allison Janney is channeling her internal John Wick for the upcoming Netflix action movie Lou, which will be released in September! The actress, who is normally seen in comedies and dramas, is trying something different with this film, and we absolutely can not wait to watch her in it.
Not only that, but she’ll be appearing alongside the Black Canary herself, Jurnee Smollet, who now has previously been in films such as Lovecraft Country and the Netflix feature Spiderhead. The film is directed by Anna Foerster and is centered on a screenplay written by Maggie Cohn & Jack Stanley built on a tale written by Cohn.
If the actors, a female director, and a female writer are not enough to pique your interest, how about the news that J.J. Abrams of Bad Robot is financing the film? Along with Cory Bennett Lewis, Lindsey Weber, Braden Aftergood, and Brendan Ferguson, Janney and Smollett will serve as executive producers. Now, this right here is giving some amazing women empowerment goals.
