Cobra Kai (Season 5)-
The sequel of Robert Mark Kamen’s 1980s-1990s martial arts movie ‘The Karate Kid’ is returning this September with its fifth season. ‘Cobra Kai‘ too is a martial arts comedy series that will bring back the lead roles from the films Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso.
Though LaRusso was the protagonist of the films with the antagonist Lawrence being defeated by him in the last film, this new series tells its story from the perspective of Lawrence who is now in his 50s.
William Zabka and Ralph Macchio have reprised their roles in the series. ‘Cobra Kai’ premiered on May 2, 2018, on YouTube Red with season 5 set to release on Netflix on September 9, 2022.
Dynasty (Season 5)-
Based on the same named prime-time soap opera of the 1980s, this American drama series stars Elizabeth Gullies in the lead role. Sallie Patrick, Josh Schwartz, and Stephanie Savage have developed this series that premiered on October 11, 2017.
Gillies is renowned for her portrayal of Jade West in Nickelodeon’s popular teen series ‘Victorious’. The plot of the series revolves around the heiress and businesswoman Fallon Carrington who is the daughter of Blake Carrington, a billionaire.
When Fallon comes to know that her father has decided to marry again, she becomes concerned about her situation in the family business. From that instance power play begins in full fledge among the main characters of the series.
Other primary cast members of the series include Nathalie Kelley, James Mackay, Robert Christopher Riley, Sam Adegoke, Rafael de la Fuente, etc.
The series won the People’s Choice Award in 2018 for best Revival Show of the year. Season 5 of ‘Dynasty’ is also the final season of the series released on The CW on December 20, 2021.
This year on September 24 the season will arrive on Netflix.
Fate: The Winx Saga (Season 2)-
Adapted from the animated series ‘Winx Club’ of Nickelodeon, ‘Fate: The Winx Saga‘ is a teen drama that is created by Brian Young.
The story revolves around a number of fairies including Bloom who is a fire fairy, Stella who is a light fairy, Aisha who is a water fairy, Terra who is a. earth fairy, and Musa who is a mind fairy as they spend their days in the magical boarding school named Alfea.
The primary cast members of the series are Abigail Cowen, Hannah van der Westhuysen, Precious Mustapha, Eliot Salt, Elisha Applebaum, etc. The Netflix Original first premiered on January 22, 2021.
In February of 2021, a second season got renewed which will release on September 16, 2022, on the streaming site.
Narco-Saints (Season 1)-
This upcoming K-drama is another addition to Netflix’s long list of South Korean tv series. Directed by Yoon Jong-bin, this series focuses on a civilian businessman named Kang In-gu.
He becomes compelled to embark upon a life-threatening journey as he becomes entangled with the secret operation of the National Intelligence Service which is on the hunt for Korean drug lord Jeon Yo-hwan.
Ha, Jung-woo is cast as the protagonist Kang In-gu in the series. As Yo-hwan we will see Hwang Jung-min in the series. The series is set to release on September 9, 2022, on Netflix.
Devil in Ohio (Season 1)-
Another upcoming series on Netflix is a suspense thriller limited series named ‘Devil in Ohio‘. It is adapted from the same named book by Daria Polatin.
This eight episodes series revolves around a hospital psychiatrist Dr. Suzanne Mathis who finds her life altered as she gives shelter to a mysterious cult escape.
American actress Emily Deschanel plays the psychiatrist in the series along with Sam Jaeger, Gerardo Velasco, and Madeleine Arthur in other roles. The series will air on September 2, 2022, on Netflix.
The Imperfects (Season 1)-
Shelley Eriksen and Dennis Heaton have created this upcoming sci-fi series which has been promoted as a “coming of rage” story.
The plot of the series centers upon three young adults in their twenty-somethings- Abbi, Juan, and Tilda.
After they are turned into monsters due to an experimental gene therapy done by mad scientist Dr. Alex Sarkov, they decide to hunt him down with the assistance of another scientist Dr. Sydney Burke to become human again. The series will premiere on September 8, 2022, on Netflix.
