The visually breathtaking, two-and-a-half-minute teaser offers a look at Tolkien’s imagined magical world of Middle Earth’s Second Age. Halbrand and a young Galadriel can be seen in the teaser.

In addition, it covers much more of the breathtaking scale and environment of the high-budget production as well as more of the history and politics of Tolkien’s Middle Earth.

Some of Tolkien’s fabled characters from the island realm of Nmenór are first seen in the new teaser. In addition to Nmenór, the teaser trailer showcases some of the realms that viewers will travel to during the eight-part series, including the Dwarven realm Khazad-dûm, the Southlands, the Northernmost Wastes, and the Sundering Seas.

The events of The Rings of Power take place thousands of years before those in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. The series synopsis states that it starts off in a period of largely peaceful time and follows an ensemble cast of both well-known and unfamiliar characters as they battle the long-feared return of evil to Middle-earth. According to recent rumors, the series will feature Sauron, the adversary of the original film trilogy.

JRR Tolkien’s fictional realm from his works served as the inspiration for The Rings of Power. Based on the books, two trilogies have been produced, with a combined budget of around $6 billion. The series is expected to be the most expansive ever, with a rumored budget of more than $400 million for Season 1.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power television series, created by JD Payne and Patrick McKay, will start airing on Amazon Prime Video on September 2 and add new episodes every Friday.
