House of the Dragon – Number of Seasons: 1
Perhaps the most celebrated and satisfying fantasy series that premiered in 2022, without many counter questions, is ‘House of the Dragon‘.
When the series was first announced, many speculations arose around it most of which revolved around whether the prequel series can maintain the extraordinary legacy that ‘Game of Thrones‘ paved with each of its eight seasons.
But ‘House of the Dragon’ has successfully established itself as a worthy successor of the epic fantasy series.
Set about two hundred years before the events of ‘Game of Thrones’, the prequel series is adapted from George R. R. Martin’s ‘Fire & Blood’.
The plot chronicles the events that led to the Targaryen civil war, known as the “Dance of Dragons” and primarily focuses on Rhaenyra Targaryen, the first female heir of the kingdom, and Alicent Hightower, her stepmother.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power – Number of Seasons: 1
This is another prequel series that was released in 2022. Patrick McKay and J. D. Payne developed this fantasy series adapted from J. R. R. Tolkien’s ‘The Lord of the Rings and Appendices.
The plot is set in Middle Earth during the Second Age and thousands of years before the events of ‘The Hobbit‘ and ‘The Lord of the Rings’.
The series navigates the Elves’ fight to resist the reawakening of evil and primarily focuses on a much younger Galadriel’s journey. Morfydd Clark portrayed Galadriel in the series that got released on September 1, 2022, on Amazon Prime Video.
The Sandman – Number of Seasons: 1
This is a fantasy series adapted from Neil Gaiman’s comic book. The plot revolves around a cosmic being baked Sandman aka Dream who has the ability to control the world of dreams.
But after he gets released from a century-long captivation, he has to work hard to fix the chaos that his absence caused through different timelines. Tom Sturridge portrayed the titular Sandman in the series that premiered on August 5, 2022, on Netflix.
The Santa Clauses – Number of Seasons: 1
This is a Christmas comedy miniseries that is based on the late twentieth century’s The Santa Clause film trilogy and serves as a sequel and continuation of the last movie that was released in 2006- ‘The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause’.
The plot revolves around Scott Calvin aka Santa Clause who realizes that someone else needs to take over the job of Santa as now he is sixty-five years old.
But trying to find out a new Santa sets him on a new journey. Tim Allen has reprised his role of Santa Claus in the series that premiered on November 16, 2022, on Disney+.
Cracow Monsters – Number of Seasons: 1
This is a Polish supernatural thriller series that is inspired by Polish mythology. The plot revolves around a young woman who joins a group led by a mysterious professor, that consists of gifted students whose objective is to defeat demons and investigate paranormal occurrences.
The series premiered on March 18, 2022, on Netflix.
Feria: The Darkest Light – Number of Seasons: 1
This is a Spanish fantasy thriller series. The plot is set in Andalusia in the 1990s and features two sisters who unexpectedly come across a new reality that is filled with supernatural elements and inform them about how their parents died as a consequence of participating in an unusual cult ritual.
The series premiered on January 28, 2022, on Netflix.
Outlander (Season 6) – Number of Seasons: 6
The plot revolves around a WWII nurse Claire who finds herself being traveled back in time. She reaches Scotland in 1743 and falls amidst the legendary Highland rebellion while falling in love with Jamie Fraser, a Highland warrior.
Caitríona Balfe and Sam Heughan are cast as Claire and Jamie respectively in the series. The first season premiered on August 9, 2014, and the sixth season arrived on March 6 this year.
Stranger Things (Season 4) – Number of Seasons: 4
The Duffer brothers created this popular sci-fi horror series. The plot moves around a group of disparate young friends whose lives become embroiled with supernatural evil forces and sinister experiments of the government.
Primary cast members include Milly Bobby Brown, Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, etc.
Premiering on July 15, 2016, the series won various accolades. In 2022 the fourth season arrived in two parts- on May 27 and on July 1.

Titans (Season 4) – Number of Seasons: 4
The plot of this superhero series takes at its center the eponymous group of Teen Titans that consist of young superheroes and navigates their coming-of-age struggles with fights against evil.
