Iman Vellani, the star of Ms. Marvel, has spoken about how closely she followed the Infinity Saga and shed some light on Marvel producing fake leaks online, including in Avengers: Endgame.
Vellani answered many questions about the franchise’s past, present, and future in a Reddit AMA to commemorate the series’ conclusion, detailing many interesting stories and facts about the studio’s secretive process. The actress’s comments about spoiler culture and how Marvel enjoys playing with the detective-like work done by fans were particularly noteworthy.
At the height of the Infinity War fallout and the then-titled “Avengers 4” speculation, there were obvious story leaks, trailer leaks, and misdirects that appeared to be done by none other than Marvel.
Vellani described how she would browse /r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers and leave because of an alleged story leak, only to discover Marvel had planned it.

I did, however, leave the subreddit for two years during Infinity War/Endgame after seeing that BARF case set photo leak, which turned out to be a complete misdirection from Marvel Security. They planted that! I now have a great deal of respect for Marvel’s security team.”
In Captain America: Civil War, B.A.R.F (Binarily Augmented Retro-Framing) was introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a way for Tony Stark to go through therapy and relive moments from his past.
It ended up being a crucial plot point in a future film; just not the Infinity duology. Instead, it was the work of Quentin Beck/Mysterio, who was enraged when Stark stole his idea in Spider-Man: Far From Home.
Marvel deserves credit for its ability to conceal tracks. For a long time, when fans couldn’t even get a still from Avengers: Endgame, theories would revolve around B.A.R.F. thanks to that “leaked” prop photo.
Iman Vellani is now inside the spoiler sphere, and after starring in Ms. Marvel, she’s set to become one of the faces of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, co-starring in The Marvels with Brie Larson next summer.
