Sweet Home: What could be the expected source Material if the show gets a renewal?

Sweet Home is a South Korean Drama horror television series that recently premiered on Netflix on 18 December. The series stars Song Kang, Lee Jin-Wook, and Lee Si-young. The show is still one of the favorites of fans and it managed to gain five million views on the Korean site Naver according to reports.

After the show was announced for its Television debut fans were cheerful about experiencing the show in a new manner. But as the TV premier brought some modifications to the show, it is very unpredictable whether it will be renewed for its second season.

Originally the webtoon is the story which was created by author Carnby Kim and Youngchan Hwang and it consists of 140 episodes. There were huge speculations whether the 10 episode Netflix series will be able to completely adapt the webtoon.

Sweet Home Season 2Update:

The main character of the show Cha Hyun-Su (Song Kang) is a self-described suicidal high school student whose family is killed in a car accident and he later shifts to Green Home.

When everyone around him brings out their inner demons, he takes the lead to save himself and his neighbors. There’s a lot more about his character in the webtoon which has left untouched in the TV debut so it might return for a second season and will root about his character more.

Other important characters from the show include Lee Jin-Wook as Pyeon Sang-Wook and Lee Si-young as Seo Yi-kyeong. While Pyeon is a mysterious man who believes in punishing evil with evil, the latter is a former firefighter.

Their characters have been slightly twisted as the authors of the webtoon requested the director Lee Eung-bok to not adapt the series 100% as they wanted to watch a different perspective. So, we might expect a renewal of the show for a second season with the original story as source material.

During a press conference held on 16 December, Eung-bok said, “I ensured that the series stayed as loyal as possible to the monsters from the Webtoon, so while we were writing, we completed the end of the storyline ourselves, so there are a couple of things that came out after we were done.” He revealed,  “If the opportunity arises, we want to also introduce the monsters that we weren’t able to and we want to stay true to the original.”
