Plot Details Of The Lying Life Of Adults

The plot of the Italian-language television series written by Edoardo De Angelis and starring Giordana Marengo as Giovanna is driven by Giovanna’s tumultuous passage from childhood to adolescence against the backdrop of Naples in the 1990s. The series comprises a total of six episodes. The official plot summary for Elena Ferrante’s novel The Lying Life of Adults is provided below:

Giovanna’s father believes that her once-beautiful face is aging and becoming unattractive. He claims that every day, Giovanna resembles her aunt Vittoria more and more. But is that possible? Is she actually evolving? Is she evolving into her Aunt Vittoria, a person she hardly knows but who her parents obviously loathe? There must be a mirror somewhere where she can see herself for who she really is.

Giovanna is looking for her reflection in two similar towns that hate and fear one another: Naples of the depths, a city of excess and ugliness, and Naples of the heights, which wears a mask of sophistication. She switches between them as she looks for the truth, but neither city seems to have any solutions or ways out.

Who Is Valeria Galino?

Valeria Golino is an Italian actress and director who was born on October 22, 1965. She is best recognized by people who speak the English language for her roles in the films Rain Man, Big Top Pee-wee, and both installments of the Hot Shots! franchise, particularly the olive-in-the-belly-button sequence.

She is one of four actresses who have twice received the Best Actress prize at the Venice Film Festival, in addition to David of Donatello, Silver Ribbon, Golden Ciak, and Italian Golden Globe honors.

Golino didn’t pursue formal acting training. Her career began by accident when her uncle Enzo got a call from director Lina Wertmüller looking for a little girl for her film, and he suggested that Golino goes to Wertmuller’s house to see her. Following an audition in which she played Shakespeare, Valeria and Ugo Tognazzi were eventually cast in each other’s first movie, A Joke of Destiny (1983).
