Trailer of The Lying Life of Adults

“When you’re a kid, everything appears big. When you’re big, everything appears little.” A phrase that summarizes Giovanna’s journey from youth, when every difficulty seemed impossible, to maturity, when she exposes her family’s lies while discovering an unprecedented Naples.

The trailer, which lasts two minutes and 28 seconds, follows the story of a teenage girl in Naples in the early 1990s. The girl develops a strong bond with his divorced aunt. It’s a show about how to manage life by appreciating your mistakes.

The show follows Giovanna’s transition from childhood to adolescence in Naples. These two kindred cities fear and despise each other: upper-crust Naples of the high quarters, where a face of refinement is worn, and lower-crust Naples, where her interesting aunt Vittoria lives.

Giovanna eventually learns a terrible family history and some unexpected realities about what it takes for a girl to become a woman as she shifts between the influence of her parents and her aunt.

Ferrante aims at the neatly crafted fiction imposed by adults in this gripping, engaging story, questioning how necessary our illusions are to our way of life.

She appears to discover that grownups live full of lies, which she can see through, but she is unsure of who she wants to be or what road she should take in the future.

Giovanna oscillates between high and low, now falling, now rising, confused by the fact that, up and down, the city appears to be empty of solutions and escape.
