Julie Andrews Gives an Update on Princess Diaries 3: ‘If It Happens, It Would Be Lovely’

the 84 time old years actress was on a live show Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen where she bandied her studies on playing Queen Clarisse Renaldi, Anne Hathway‘s character’s grandmother, for the third time. Julie Andrew was surprised to learn that an addict had asked the actress if there had been any updates since  Anne Hathaway‘s advertisement of a completed Princess Journals 3 script.

I haven’t heard that the script has been finished But there was gossip about a third movie for a while” she replied laughing that she was unaware of the situation.

Hathway, I believe, is expecting a second child. She, like me, has been very busy. If it happens, it will be fantastic; if it doesn’t, I won’t know about it, so there you have it,” she joked.

Hathaway, 36, revealed on an episode of Live in January that a script for a third film had already been completed. She also hinted that Julie Andrews might make an appearance in the next sequel.

The sequel would come after the original film, released in 2001, and The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, released in 2004.

Hathaway played Mia Thermopolis in the original film, a shy adolescent in San Francisco who discovers she is the heir to the Genovian throne after her father dies. In the sequel, Chris Pine appeared as Mia’s love interest.

“We value it as much as you do, and we don’t want to deliver anything until it’s ready, but we’re working on it,” the soon-to-be mother-of-two explained.

“Our producer, Debra Martin Chase, is interested.” We’re all hoping for the best. We just don’t want to unless it’s perfect because we adore it just as much as you do.”

Gary Marshall, who directed the first two films and died in July 2016, told PEOPLE in March 2016 that he planned to work with the Ocean’s 8 actresses on a third film.
