The main plot and the love triangle of Stefan and Demon who have the supernatural ability and the human girl Elena are inspired from ‘The Twilight Saga’- the most celebrated and loved vampire story of all time.
The series is set in Virginia in a fictional town called ‘Mystic Falls’. It features a human girl Elena who has lost her parents in a car accident recently. She falls in love with a vampire named Stefan Salvatore. But when his vampire older brother Damon Salvatore comes back to the town to bring back Katherine, things get complicated.
Katherine is a vampire whom the Salvatore brothers used to love. Katherine and Elena look exactly alike. Eventually, Demon falls in love with Elena.
Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, and Ian Somerhalder play the roles of Elena, Stefan, and Damon respectively. The series ran from September 10, 2009, to March 10, 2017, on The CW.
