The Originals Season 6 Update: The infamous spin-off of The Vampire Diaries, The Originals comes to an end with its fifth season. The creator of The Originals, Julie Plec made the announcement of the cancellation of the series through a tweet on her official Twitter handle before the filming of the fifth season kicked in.
The spin-off first premiered on The CW network and later on Netflix and Amazon Prime also bought the distribution rights of The Originals. Fans would be wondering that why did the show got canceled so here I have some reasons but before they let us look at the storyline and casting of the series.
Plot: The Originals Season 1 to 5
As a spin-off, the series focuses on the Mikaelson siblings in their quest to return to their home, New Orleans. In a back story, it is revealed that as the first family of vampires Mikaelsons were called The Originals. In the first season, they are struggling to make a place for themselves in the city which was once theirs. But they have to protect the residents of the city from the silent war between the vampires and other supernatural beings.
The second season revolves around Hayley’s pregnancy over a one night stand with Klaus. The latter is dreading for the safety of the child while the biggest threat is one of the family members. In the third season, The Originals face a dreadful prophecy that describes their downfall due to the vengeance of the first generation of non-Original vampires.
Next season shows the awakening of a destructive ancient menace and The Originals are trying their best to stop it. The fifth season of The Originals will show Hope in a high school while the Mikaelsons still haven’t controlled the ancient havoc and trying to reunite the family.

Reasons for Cancellation: The Originals Season 6
The ending of the series caught the fans a little off guard. We are speculating that the reason behind the cancellation of The Originals is because of the ratings and criticism the show received after the fourth season. The plot was becoming very predictable so the creators thought that it will be best for the series to conclude. It’s a pity that none of the three distributors picked the show for renewal.
