Loki Episode 4 Enemy Variant Homages a Modern Horror Classic

Loki Episode 4 Updates: The latest episode of Loki was released on Wednesday, and it looks like it included a fantastic tribute to Denzel Washington’s cult classic movie Fallen. In episode two, Loki and Time Variance Authority agent Mobius M. Mobius track for the fugitive variation responsible for the deaths of TVA agents.

And it’s there, that a dramatic moment reminiscent of Fallen occurs. When Loki comes to the store where the fugitive variation has set up shop, the fugitive variant uses her transference power to torture Loki by traveling among the individuals in the store via touch. The scene is scary, and it feels like a direct tribute to a similar scene in Gregory Hoblit’s psychological thriller Fallen, which starred Washington as detective John Hobbes and was released in 1998.

Edgar Reese is executed in jail just before the serial killer, homicide investigator John Hobbes and Edgar have a conversation. Reese takes pride in his misdeeds and shows no remorse. Hobbes is there for Reese’s execution.

However, this isn’t the end of the story. The killings still continue and are extremely similar to Reese’s. Hobbes hears people on the street singing the same song that Reese had been singing in the gas chamber.

It’s suggested to him that the fallen angel Azazel is to blame. Azazel is cursed to roam the Earth without taking on a physical form, and he may switch bodies at any time. Hobbes must clear his record while saving his family from the demonic, vindictive Azazel after he is compelled to murder a man possessed by Azazel.

If Hobbes murders the person who is now possessed by Azazel and then commits himself, the fallen angel will perish since he can’t live without a body for long.

His co-workers have suspicions about him. They believe he has deceived everyone by being the serial murderer from the start. Hobbes travels to a lonely cabin in the middle of nowhere, where he has challenged Azazel to accompany him. Hobbes murders Jonesy and then kills himself in the last encounter.

Evil appears to have died. However, a voice informs the viewers that the only animal capable of holding a demon is a cat. We come upon a cat on its route to the closest populated town. Hobbes’ failure is now known to the audience.

Whether the homage is intentional or not, the similarity is undebatable. The cop similarity between Hobbes and Mobius as well as the transference of evil and power of Lady Loki.
