Space Jam 2 Updates: LeBron James plays basketball in new pictures from Space Jam: A New Legacy, as well as a 3D Bugs Bunny, Don Cheadle’s character, and more.
LeBron James and a 3D Bugs Bunny star in new Space Jam: A New Legacy images. The sequel to the 1996 hit Space Jam, in which NBA legend Michael Jordan teamed up with the Looney Tunes to win a basketball game, has been in the works for a long time.
This time around, James takes the lead, but the film is about a lot more than sports. James previously stated that Space Jam: A New Legacy is a family film revolving on James’ friendship with his son Dom. In terms of the narrative, he’s referred to it as a “parenting movie.”
Space Jam: A New Legacy, which is set to hit theatres later this year, is one of the Warner Bros. films that will debut on HBO Max on the same day as it hits theatres.
Though there’s still a long way to go before the film’s July debut, WB is starting to build anticipation for it. Audiences first saw Space Jam 2 footage in an HBO Max teaser earlier this year, and now there’s a fresh batch of still images that provide a more detailed look at the film.

The pictures, which are courtesy of EW, show James planning to dunk during a basketball game, as well as Bugs Bunny looking concerned and Don Cheadle’s character AI G. Take a look at the images below to get a better idea :
The Monstars, the famous team of villains from the original Space Jam, are absent from Space Jam: A New Legacy.
Instead, the Tune Squad will encounter the Goon Squad, who, according to EW, have their own “powered-up roster of pros.” Dom, played by Cedric Joe, is wearing a Goon Squad jersey, meaning that Cheadle’s AI G wants to pit James against his son.
When James tries to save Dom, the family dynamics are brought into action. According to EW, the two get trapped in the “Warner 3000 entertainment Server-verse.”
Although Space Jam: A New Legacy should feature some of the cartoonish antics that made the first film a cult classic among ’90s kids, it also sounds like it will tell an emotional tale about fatherhood, giving it a deep emotional heart. The script was written by Ryan Coogler, one of this generation’s most celebrated filmmakers, so it’ll be fun to see what the plot entails.
These images mark the official launch of the Space Jam: A New Legacy ad plan, so the first teaser could arrive any day now. The NBA season 2021 is currently in progress, with the All-Star Game scheduled for March 7.
That’s one of the league’s most high-profile events, and it would be the ideal venue to debut new videos from Space Jam: A New Legacy (especially since James will be playing in the game).
And if there isn’t a trailer this weekend, WB is obviously ramping up the promotional engine, which means there will be plenty of Space Jam: A New Legacy content in the near future.
