His Dark Materials Updates: With season two coming soon, here’s a spoiler-filled recap of the events from His Dark Materials Season 1.

His Dark Materials had to do so much world-working to do in the first season that it took a while to get off. Once running, however, the BBC/HBO show took off.

After the story gained traction, we were introduced to the far North, a home for armored bears, evil scientific research facilities, and a portal to alternate worlds. This adaption was the perfect representation of Philip Pullman’s legendary fantasy novel trilogy.

Prior to that point, the foundations were being laid out to clarify the idea of this new world. This prepared the viewers for the epic adventure that Lyra Belacqua and Will Parry were going to take.
