It is based on the famous book, Vongozero, by author Yana Vagner, and this book has even been translated into eleven different languages. Since its premiere, back in Russia in 2019, the show received a huge hit.

Season 1 aired on Netflix on 7th October 2020 and consisted of eight episodes. The entire novel, Vongozero was covered entirely in Season 1 only. Several sources have even named this series as a mini-series.

Season 1 was released initially in Russia in 2019, but till now there is no talk over Sequel’s renewal.

Since if we consider this factor, then there are chances that the Sequel for To the Lake stands canceled or shelved. But, as the international release received such a huge hit, the creators might think about producing another sequel.

The storyline of To the Lake Plot

The series takes us on a trip to Moscow, contaminated by an unknown virus. The city is piled up with dead bodies everywhere. In the absence of all the necessities such as electricity, money has now lost its value.

And the people not infected by this deadly virus are now struggling for their existence, combating for food or fuel. Sergei, he resides somewhere on the outskirts of the city along with his partner and one autistic son.

But, upon hearing the state of despair in Moscow, he rushes to save his estranged ex-wife and son.

To The Lake is an emotional drama where the main character is trying to survive amidst the nationwide pandemic. Back to Sergei, his family loathes him, but they need to come together so as to survive this pandemic. But traveling to the North for survivability is not that easy.
