The time has finally come as after years and years of waiting, it seems like Freaky Fridays is about to go down into the works.

For those who don’t know, particularly some of y’all who might not even have been born during that time, Freaky Friday is a super hit comedy film released back in 2003.

The movie was based on a novel written by American composer, screenwriter, and author, Mary Rodgers, she completed and published the novel back in 1967, and it turned out to be an instant classic.

Freaky Friday featured Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, the former is an Academy Award winner, a BAFTA Award winner, two Golden Globe Awards, and has been nominated for a Grammy Award one time, and the latter has been part of over 30 Hollywood films.

Freaky Friday was one of the greatest hits at the time of its release, the movie was made with a budget of just $26 million shattered several records, and collected a whopping over $160 million.

Considering the gigantic success of the movie, a sequel was always on the cards, and speculations were being made for over a decade finally, here we are after 21 long years the movie finally has a sequel.

The Hollywood Reporter was first to share the news which was later confirmed by several media outlets.

Disney has roped in Canadian director Nisha Gantara to direct the film, further, it has been reported that the shootings will kickstart from May or June in Los Angeles.

Andrew Gunn, who directed the original movie has been appointed as the production head again, and both the original actors are in the negotiations.

Everything seems in place at the moment but one thing that is still unclear is whether the movie will be released on Disney+ or if it’ll be a theatrical release. Nevertheless, the news has surely got tons of fans excited for the part two.
