After escaping Singh’s ambush in the Orinoco jungle, John B, Big John, and Sarah go to locate the cave. They load up on gold, but time is running out because Big John was shot.
Singh surrounds them, but Big John detonates explosives to destroy the cave. Finally, he puts his son’s needs ahead of the riches because doing so effectively removes the cave from outsiders and makes the loot unrecoverable.
On the outside, however, Sarah’s evil father, Ward, approaches the group. After initially attempting to assist them, he struck a deal with Singh to securely return Sarah to her house.
Unfortunately, ward, now the target of her wrath, resumes his previous behavior by holding them at gunpoint and stealing the loot. Once the rest of the Pogues come to save them, things turn unexpectedly when Ryan, Singh’s top goon, tries to grab the gold.
As Ward finally understands what he’s done, Ryan punishes him for rushing him. But Ward gets the final word, spearing him down a cliff, killing them both.

The Pogues manage to discover El Dorado.
The Pogues’ pursuit of El Dorado has led them to South America, where they can locate it. The buddies take a bit to get there since John B, Pope, Cleo, and Sarah all fly on her father’s private jet with a hurt Ward along for the ride.
Although he must first save her from the wilderness camp her parents have sent her to, JJ and Kie travel a longer path. When he does, they board a plane with a neighborhood drug dealer while offering him some riches in exchange.
On “Outer Banks,” this happens frequently, and it does so again as the Pogues pursue their objective. Pope, Cleo, JJ, and Kie followed closely after John B, Sarah, and their dad as they headed off.
Singh and his men shoot fire when Ward betrays the gang to them to protect his daughter, killing Big John. In the end, Ward gives his life to save Sarah. Sarah finds a tunnel with some water that she surmises must go deeper, and she and John B go on their own.
Once John B follows her intuition, they ultimately find the gold. The two gather what they can before leaving the cave, but Singh waits for them with a rifle. To keep his son safe, Big John detonates the cave.
Sadly, this leads to a cave-in, blocking the way to El Dorado, and Big John perishes from his wounds.
