The famous actor Donnie Yen is going to make his debut in the John Wick franchise in the upcoming 4th installment of the legendary and super successful series of action movies.
Donnie’s character is called Caine, who is a blind assassin and finds himself pretty much caught between the supervillainous High Table and his diehard friendship with Keanu Reeves’ killer.
But it seems like Donnie’s character was not called Caine in the beginning. He had to insist the team make all these changes.

Story Behind the Changes Made to Donnie Yen’s Character In John Wick Chapter 4.
Donnie Yen shared the fact that his character was not named Caine when the final script was released for all the actors to read. The name was either Shang or Chang as confirmed by the actor himself.
This made him furious as he thought that it was a big stereotype to name an Asian character Chang or Shang. That’s why he called out the script to make the much necessary changes to his character.

What Did Donnie Yen Said?
In an interview with Variety magazine, Donnie said the following words while talking about his character Caine in John Wick 4,
Chad Stahelski, who is the director of John Wick: Chapter 4 listened to the criticism made by Donnie Yen and made all the necessary changes that were suggested to him.
Talking about his overall experience of working in John Wick, he mentioned that Chad listened to him carefully which made him feel respected. He also said that he had a once-in-a-lifetime experience with the cast members of John Wick: Chapter 4.
