John Legend Opens Up About Blake Shelton Voice Exit

John Legend is speaking out for the first time regarding the unexpected departure of Blake Shelton from The Voice.

On October 12 of this week, the country veteran made the announcement that he would no longer be participating in the reality show. Shelton is the only original coach who has continued to make appearances on the program for its whole since its debut in 2011.

Not only that, but he also holds the record for the most victories with eight under his belt already. In addition to this, NBC reported that he has taught 15 musicians who have had songs reach No. 1 on the Top Songs list on iTunes.

During an interview with ET, John Legend discussed Blake Shelton’s exit from The Voice and referred to the 46-year-old singer as the “heart” and “soul” of the singing competition.

Despite this, John Legend was sympathetic to Shelton’s decision to leave the program, explaining that “Well, you know, he’s been doing the show for 22 seasons, it’ll be 23 when he’s done, and you can’t do anything forever.”

“However, we are going to miss having him around. In addition to being a close friend of mine, he has long served as the driving force behind the program as well as its anchor. I find it quite rewarding to collaborate with him “he continued.

The first declaration made by Shelton was made with a lot of feeling. “My whole life has been improved for the better as a direct result of watching this program, and it will always feel like coming home to me.

It has been one hell of a trip during these last 12 years of chair turns, and I would want to thank everyone at The Voice from NBC, including every producer, every writer, every musician, every crew member, and every catering person. You guys are the greatest. To successfully execute a live concert twice a week requires a significant amount of effort, enthusiasm, and alcoholic drinks (ha!) “he said those words at the time.

Shelton has decided that the next 23rd season will be his last on the show. After the conclusion of this season, all of the existing coaches, including Legend, Camila Cabello, and Shelton’s wife, Gwen Stefani, will step down from their positions.

Alongside Shelton during his last stint on the show will be Chance the Rapper, Niall Horan, and Kelly Clarkson, who is returning as a coach.
