POCO M5: Price, Design, Display, and Much More

POCO M5: When Xiaomi introduced its POCO sub-brand a few years ago. It did so with the primary goal of providing users with Android handsets with remarkable performance and hardware characteristics, all at a competitive price.

Comparing the POCO M5 to other low-cost smartphones is extremely simple. It recreates the faux leather texture from the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and combines it with a nearly identical black version.

As well as two other eye-catching color trimmings, POCO Yellow and Icy Blue, of which we were given the latter. A flat plastic frame with a texture similar to a Lego block surrounds it.

The Poco Yellow color option of the phone has a striking yellow back that is perfectly complemented by black accents that cover the camera island. The gadget will undoubtedly draw some attention.

Some of my family members praised the Poco M5’s look and feel when I was using the smartphone and the appealing color palette.

The volume rockers and power buttons are located on the right side of the phone. While its bottom houses a USB Type-C connector, a microphone hole, and a speaker grille. The top of the phone contains a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Display

Having an FHD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 90Hz, the 6.58-inch LCD screen on the front of the POCO M5 lights up the area. It is responsive (at least for the price), and it shines brightly enough to be seen in direct sunshine. The viewing angles are good, but the blacks aren’t as deep and the colors aren’t as vivid as they would be on a standard IPS LCD panel at this price.

Corning Gorilla Glass 3 also offers additional protection for the display. The gadget also has Widevine L1 certification, so users will be able to watch Netflix material in 1080p resolution. The phone has a single bottom-firing speaker that produces average volume and, in my opinion, has a slightly tinny sound.

Performance

With a maximum of 6GB of RAM and 128 GB of UFS 2.2 storage. MediaTek’s Helio G99 SoC provides power to the Poco M5. Furthermore, the device has a virtual RAM capability that allows you to add up to 2GB of RAM by taking that much space from your phone’s internal storage.

A better version of the MediaTek Helio G96 SoC is the Helio G99 SoC. While the GPU has also received a slight improvement, Mediatek has mostly improved the CPU, which means the SoC should offer better battery life.

Cameras

A 50MP sensor is the star of the triple rear camera arrangement on the Poco M5. The gadget also has a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro camera on the back. The 8MP front-facing camera on the Poco M5 is capable of taking selfies and making video calls.

In the daylight, the primary camera takes some respectable pictures with slightly cooler hues. The photographs are well-detailed, but almost invariably have overexposed highlights.

You will always need to press the HDR button to activate HDR because it is by default turned off. There isn’t much of a difference between HDR-capable and non-capable photos.
