Peaky Blinders is a British crime drama tv series created by Steven Knight. Set in Birmingham, England, it follows the exploits of the Peaky Blinders crime gang inside the direct aftermath of the first world war.
The fictional gang is loosely based on a real urban youth gang of the same call who were active in the city from the 1880s to the 1910s.
The fans waited over two years for Peaky Blinders season 6, with season 5 releasing back in August 2019.
But the show was well really worth the wait, with an action-packed finale full of twists and turns.
Well, the most important plot twist was the main character, Tommy Shelby ( role played via Cillian Murphy) finding out he isn’t in truth terminally ill.
This leaves the door huge open for future series of the drama.
So with the potential for greater action from the Shelby family, the question many fans are asking now is; will there be a Peaky Blinders season 7?
Why did Peaky Blinders Season 7 get Cancel?
Official plot information is currently being saved underneath wraps. However, Steven Knight has revealed that the Peaky Blinders film will be set during the second world battle.
He said: “It’s a very specific tale, that’s based on a real story from the second one world battle and will be informed in the Peaky manner.”
The Peaky Blinders writer previously stated that the show could end with the first air-raid siren in Birmingham in 1939, which didn’t happen in the tv show.
So it’s a concept that could occur in the movie instead.
We also saw that Steven hopes to ‘redeem’ Cillian Murphy’s character, Tommy Shelby, by the end of the story.
He has formerly explained that: “My goal has always been to redeem him so that at the end he’s genuinely a good man doing correct things.
Who will be cast in the Peaky Blinders film?
Well, nothing has been showing, it’s hoped that Cillian Murphy will return for the movie, seeing as there wouldn’t be a Peaky Blinders film without Tommy Shelby.
Thankfully, show creator Steven Knight has defined that Cillian is keen on the film.
He said: “We have talked to Cillian Murphy and he is fascinated about it, and the rest of the principal cast are in for it.”
Paul Anderson is also believed to be reprising his position as Arthur Shelby.
And Steven has hinted that Stephen Graham should reprise his role as Hayden Stagg in the movie.
The very last episode became a whopping 81 mins long, much to the delight of Peaky fans. Peaky Blinders season 6 – the final season of the gangster drama – consisted of six episodes altogether.
The first episode of the season was released on BBC One on 27 February 2022, with the much-anticipated finale being released on 3 April 2022.
