Anthony Mackie is set to make his directorial debut with a biographical picture about civil rights activist Claudette Colvin. An upcoming biography could be Anthony Mackie’s directorial debut. The film will center on Claudette Colvin, a Civil Rights pioneer.

Following his major appearances in the Disney+ programs The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, as well as his future starring role in Captain America 4, Mackie is now taking on the position of director for the upcoming Colvin biopic.

In 1955, Colvin was sentenced to prison at the age of 15 after refusing to give up her seat on a segregated bus to a white woman, a year before the events surrounding Rosa Parks. In the Browder v. Gayle lawsuit, Colvin testified before a judging panel, who agreed that Alabama’s bus segregation was illegal under the 14th Amendment’s Equal Protection Clause. Despite her efforts to end segregation, many of her achievements were overlooked by Civil Rights campaigners due to her unwed pregnancy.

According to Deadline, Mackie’s upcoming film, Spark, starring Saniyya Sidney as King Richard, will honor Colvin’s pioneering accomplishments throughout the Civil Rights Movement. After a quick trip to the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, Mackie discovered Colvin’s under-appreciated story.

In contrast, Mackie expressed genuine interest in extending her story since he regarded her as a true superhero in the eyes of the public. The film will be produced by Gravy Productions, Mansa Productions, and Mandalay Pictures, and distributed by Amber Green Entertainment.

Colvin expressed her gratitude and happiness at Mackie’s decision to honor her by recounting her story in response to the news of Mackie’s film. Behind the scenes for the upcoming biographical picture, which also happens to be Mackie’s directing debut, Colvin’s family will be involved.

Following the success of Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson and Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, this film will star Mackie as Sam Wilson and Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes.

Similarly, Isaiah Bradley (Carl Lumbly) was kept concealed from the public throughout the Korean War despite employing the same developed serum, and his acts remained unrecognized, while Captain America was acclaimed as the super-soldier serum’s heroic icon.

After taking the role of MCU’s newest Captain America, Mackie will tell the story of Colvin, a real-life hero, on the big screen. Now that she is 82 years old, Colvin’s bravery and struggles against prejudice, as well as her fight for the end of segregation, will finally be recognized. Currently, there isn’t much information available on the release of Spark, but it shouldn’t be long before we see Colvin’s tremendous efforts on screen.
