Julianne Moore Explains Why It Is ‘Totally Sexist’ To Say A Woman Is ‘Aging Gracefully’

Julianne Moore Updates: In a recent interview with As If Magazine, actress Julianne Moore called out people who use the expression ‘Aging Gracefully’. She called the expression ‘totally sexist’ as age is not something people have control over.

Julianne Moore told As If Magazine of the immense judgment around the phrase ‘Aging Gracefully’.

The Oscar-winning actress pointed out that aging is a part of everyone’s life. It is a human condition but people talk about it as if there is a way to control it. The actress went on to say that she lives by the motto of her colleague, veteran actress Helen Mirren when it comes to growing old.

When talking about the significance of inner growth, the actress said that as children we are given a narrative that we keep growing through school and then college. But once that is done, we stop growing. Moore asks that if growth stops there, what happens to the rest of our lives.

She says, “How do we continue to challenge ourselves, to interest ourselves, learn new things, be more helpful to other people, be the person that your friends and family need or want? According to Julianne Moore, all these questions are what aging should be about.
