A look at Amazon’s list of best-selling games for 2021 this year reveals that Skyward Sword HD is already the company’s third best-selling retail game of all time. Only Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, which launched back in February, and world-leading Animal Crossing New Horizons, has had better sales on Amazon this year, with Skyward Sword taking third place just ten days after launch Is.
It publicly provided this data on Amazon’s US site, but with the game taking the number one spot in both the UK and Japan, statistics show that retail performance is strong in those regions as well.
It will include the title in the upcoming sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Amazon’s list includes other gaming items, including gift cards, peripherals, and more. While Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury is the best-selling physical game on the list, it comes in at number six on the list.
It ranked skyward Sword HD 20th, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons is at number 21. Because Skyward Sword is a port of a game that first hit us almost 10 years ago, this is a pretty impressive performance!

A good portion of Skyward Sword takes place in the skies above Hyrule, and there is some speculation that the title will be included in the upcoming sequel to The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild. Nintendo hasn’t confirmed it yet, but new footage from the game shown at E3 2021 shows a few striking similarities between the two games.
Nintendo hasn’t revealed many details about Breath of the Wild 2, but it seems like a safe bet that we’ll learn more shortly!
