Cyberpunk 2077 Updates: There were details of CD Projekt’s quarterly earning shared which indicate that the Cyberpunk 2077 sales for Q1 2021 could end up much lesser than expected.
The publisher of this game shared the details of the earnings of the game with the investors on May 31. The talk did give us some of the details.
For example, the company revealed during the call that it had had a whopping 64 percent loss in its net profit for the Q1 quarter. They cited the sci-fi RPG’s myriad launch troubles as the main reason.
Cyberpunk 2077 Sales In Q1 of 2021
CD Projekt’s investor meeting for Q1 2021, additionally featured cursory details about the processes taken to ensure that the game returns to the PlayStation Store. Though the leadership of the company couldn’t reveal much of the details, SVP Business Development Michal Nowakowski divulged the studio is in the midst of the process necessary to restore the game’s digital distribution on PlayStation platforms.
CD Projekt simply refused to offer any insights related to the sales data, though, in spite of its eagerness to flaunt the numbers in the days after the troublesome release of Cyberpunk 2077.
During this highly important earnings call that took place, a CD Projekt investor was curious to know Cyberpunk 2077’s unit sales for the first quarter of 2021. In response, President and Joint CEO Adam Kiciński did not provide any direct answers to this question. The executive stated, “We usually communicate unit sales when we reach certain milestones – round numbers that we can announce…” Kiciński further said that the sales update for Q1 2021 centered on Cyberpunk’s ability to draw in 60 percent of CDPR’s product sales revenue. Most of these sales, he added, did arrive from “PC digital distribution channels.” This means that the publisher, by no means, is confident in sharing the updated data, probably due to the reason that Cyberpunk 2077’s quarterly sales were worse than expected.
The sales of Cyberpunk 2077 on console took a sharp dive weeks after the launch. In the month of January, its place on the NPD charts, which track US sales, had tumbled to number 18.
