Euphoria Season 2 Updates: High school drama and Emmy Award-winning series, Euphoria, is back with its second season. The dark and intense drama based on an Israeli mini-series of the same name has been one of HBO’s most popular shows.
Like most other shows now, Euphoria to is delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Here’s all you that is known about the upcoming season.
How Euphoria Season 1 Ended?
Euphoria is an intense heavy drama that shows the problems teenagers deal with today. Season 1 was about 17-year old drug addiction struggling girl Rue Bennett. The story moves with her narration along with the lives of her classmates, including transgender crush Jules, camgirl Kat, popular Cassie, jock bully Nate, and his abused cheerleader girlfriend Maddy.
Season 1 ended with Rue and Jules deciding to leave town together. Rue changes her mind, Jules leaves her at the station, and heartbroken she relapses into a stylized dance number. Also, Kat and Ethan get together, Cassie goes through with her abortion and Maddy finds out about the video Nate’s father makes illicitly hooking up with Jules.
All About Euphoria Season 2
In the break between seasons, two special episodes were made in quarantine with the limited crew by showrunner Sam Levinson. They featured a focus on Rue after her relapse and how she is dealing with life in the first episode “Trouble Don’t Last Always”. The other one released in January 2021 was focused on Jules visiting her therapist named, “F**k Anyone Who’s Not A Sea Blob”.
Both these were minimalist conversation pieces rather than the bombastic episodes of the main series. While nothing much develops in the specials, it’s recommended to see them as they work on the character’s thinking and mind in the aftermath of Season 1.
Season 2 does not have a release date yet. It was originally set for a March 2020 release. But due the pandemic outbreak, everything got delayed by a year. Productions for Euphoria Season 2 resumed in March 2021 and shooting started in April. As of now, the aim is to release by end of 2021.
As of now, there are little to no details available of the second season coming. As far as the cast is concerned, all the regular cast have either confirmed or are on the verge. They include Zendaya as Rue Bennett, Hunter Schaffer as Jules Vaughn, Angus Cloud as Fezco, Eric Dane as Cal Jacobs, Barbie Ferreira as Kat Hernandez, Jacob Elordi as Nate Jacobs, Sydney Sweeney as Cassie Howard, Alexa Demie as Maddy Perez, Maude Apatow as Lexi Howard and Storm Reid as Gia Bennett.
Also, Kelvin Harrison Jr., who was supposed to be a part of Season 1 but pulled out, is expected to be in the second.
About the plot, Sydney Sweeney, who plays Cassie told Stylecaster, “I can tease that, when you ask about Season 2, my heart drops“. She further added, “In a you-guys-have-no-idea-what-you’re-going-to-watch way. Cassie really needs to get her shit together. I can’t say anything else. Cassie has a crazy storyline in Season 2 that I did not expect. Every time I read a new episode that Sam writes, my jaw is on the ground and I can’t believe this is something coming out of someone’s mind.“
