Star Wars Updates: Despite the fact that they were enemies for the majority of the primary Star Wars trilogy, Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader both used the same lightsaber battle style, which was eventually adopted by Leia after she completed her Jedi training.
There are seven different types of lightsaber fighting across both canon and Legends (the original Star Wars timeline, formerly known as the Expanded Universe). Anakin Skywalker’s preferred the style of Form V, which he persisted to put into work after claiming the position of the Sith Lord Darth Vader.
As seen in Return of the Jedi and numerous Legends-era non-movie content, Luke Skywalker became one of the galaxy’s foremost capable experts of Form V.
Form V is a swift and destructive lightsaber form with two major sub-disciplines: Shien and Djem Thus, it focuses on dominating and overpowering opponents. Form V is deadly against blaster-wielding foes, as Luke Skywalker illustrates in Return of the Jedi, reallocating blaster bolts back at assailants almost as well as Form III which is heavily related to Obi-Wan’s form.
Form V’s destructive cannons against guarding lightsaber-wielders are shown in Star Wars: Episode III-Revenge of the Sith, Return of the Jedi, and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
Star Wars: Darth Vader’s Lightsaber Fighting Style

In Star Wars, Obi-Wan taught Luke the fundamentals of Forms I and III, and Yoda gave him more in-depth combat experience throughout his month on Dagobah in The Empire Strikes Back.
Luke had selected Form V as his personal version by the time he faced Vader in Cloud City, and his talents had been mastered by their rematch aboard the Death Star II. Leia is Luke’s initial Jedi student across both canon and Legends. It’s undeniable that Leia favors Form V as well.
Because of its violence and blend of strength and agility, Form V is a good fit for Leia, Luke, and their dad. Anakin was a firm believer in superiority and simple combat strategies. With his increased strength as Vader, he became even more lethal. Luke received a crash course in Jedi training during the original trilogy, so it’s no surprise that he prefers the technique with the most crucial tactics.
Leia’s violent lightsaber combat style is appropriate for her status as Luke’s New Jedi Order’s technological first student. Most of the flaws in the prequel period Jedi Order were addressed by Luke’s Jedi philosophy, such as regulating rather than resisting feelings. Luke and Leia, like Darth Vader before them, perfected the fifth lightsaber fighting style, establishing a new era of Jedi.
