Genius: Arethra: Finished Production to Release on Nat Geo

Genius: Arethra Updates: Coronavirus stopped the shooting and delayed the scheduled release dates of almost every big project of this year and also the coming year. 

But however, many series and movies have successfully finished the shooting amid the lockdown. Among all of them, there is Genius: Aretha, the third part of the National Geographic’s anthology series, The production was wrapped in Atlanta.

The team uploaded photos on Instagram of celebrating the occasion. The photos featured Cynthia Erivo as music icon Aretha Franklin as well as executive producer/showrunner Suzan-Lori Parks, who sent the cast and crew a welcome-back letter the day the series started production again last month, and executive producer-director Anthony Hemingway.

Genius Aretha, about the amazing “Chain of Fools” vocalist, had shot 5 1/2 episodes of its eight-episode request when creation shut down mid-March in the midst of the rising Covid flare-up.

Genius: Aretha, from Imagine Television and Touchstone TV, is slated to debut before the Aretha Franklin film biopic Respect, featuring Jennifer Hudson, whose release is newly pushed to August 2021.

After broad prep work, Genius: Aretha restarted production on October 1 in Atlanta. After three weeks, the shooting stopped for several days after a side actor tested positive for Covid-19, an issue numerous projects tackle in the midst of another influx of contaminations.

Hemingway is the director and Parks is the showrunner. Envision’s Brian Grazer and Ron Howard just as Clive Davis and Atlantic Records Chairman and CEO Craig Kallman likewise are the executive producers.
