Finally, a major revelation and a significant arrest. More of Loretta’s past is revealed at the beginning of the Only Murders In The Building Season 3 Episode 8.
She was a prosperous, up-and-coming actress in school, but her career appeared to be coming to an end when she unexpectedly became pregnant.
Only Murders In The Building Season 3 Episode 8: Why Is Dickie So Special to Loretta?
Dickie is then revealed to be her son, the baby that was put up for adoption. Loretta meticulously researched Dickie’s life in the newspapers and proudly compiled press cuttings in her book.
This explains why she’s obsessed with Ben. In reality, she was only ever passionate about Dickie, Ben’s brother and manager.
Loretta writes a confessional letter to Dickie at the end of the episode, but she panics when she can’t find her news cuttings book. Loretta instantly suspects Oliver of stealing it.
Oliver’s Sitzprobe follows as the title indicates. With live music, the actors and crew prepare for their first rehearsal. Loretta requests a meeting with Dickie after rehearsals.

Did Mabel, Charles, and Oliver reach an Agreement?
During the sitzprobe rehearsal, Mabel approached Oliver and Charles. She informed them that she went ahead and filmed an episode because they had no interest in carrying out the inquiry with her.
She had often implored them to take things seriously and assist her in finding Ben Glenroy’s murderer, but they were always preoccupied with something else, and they took Mabel for granted.
Mabel wanted someone to go into the interrogation room and listen to what everyone had to say once Detective Williams arrived. Despite their assurances that they would do the necessary, Mabel had little faith in Charles and Oliver.
It was the last chance for Charles and Oliver to show her they were genuine about everything and that she shouldn’t leave them. Oliver knew Detective Williams enjoyed seeing Charles disgrace himself, and she wouldn’t pass up the chance to see him act if she thought he was about to make a mistake.
Oliver set the bait, and Williams took it as predicted. She arrived at the theatre to see Charles play, and that’s when Oliver went inside the room where Williams was questioning everyone and installed the GoPro camera that Tobert gave Mabel.
Through it, Charles and Mabel could capture all of the people’s testimony, and Mabel couldn’t believe it when she heard it. The team resolved to put the past behind them and work together to solve the murder mystery.

Who killed Ben Glenroy?
Charles and Mabel analyze the evidence. Loretta is now known to be Dickie’s mother. The police then arrive to take Dickie away for questioning. Loretta quickly ends her major musical piece and calls down to the cops in the aisles.
Loretta claims to be the murderer, claiming she poisoned Ben and shoved him down the lift shaft. Instead, the cops quickly arrest her and release Dickie.
Oliver finds it difficult to imagine Loretta admitting to the crime. He had another heart attack right there and then. The actors and crew rush to his rescue, crying out for help.
