Kiernan Shipka Is Trapped in the 1980s With a Crazed Murderer in the First ‘Totally Killer’ Trailer!

The latest trailer for Totally Killer gives viewers a sneak glimpse at the film’s electric aesthetic, which blends flawlessly with the blood & violence you’d expect from a slasher film. Prepare to be swept back in time with these cool ’80s haircuts and clothing.

Nothing says “old school,” like a bunch of individuals wearing spooky masks and a heart-pounding shot of someone hiding in the bathroom with a baseball bat. Totally Killer recalls recollections of beloved horror movies from the past that viewers can’t get enough of.

The trailer shows the “Sweet Sixteen Killer” reappearing 35 years after a group of friends were murdered in the woods. We watch Jamie (Shipka), a kid who disregards her mother’s warnings and finally confronts the Killer. She inadvertently time-travels to the 1980s, kicking off the plot as she tries to flee from him.

The movie also teases some Back to the Future-style time travel antics, such as Shipka’s protagonist engaging with a younger version of her mother. She now has seven hours until she is forever stuck in the past.

There are several jokes sprinkled throughout the trailer. Totally Killer is rated R for “bloody violence, speech, s*xual material, and teen drug/alcohol use,” the red band teaser teases some of the nasty humor to come. The humor is still somewhat dark and harsh.

The trailer for ‘Totally Killer’ appears to be incredibly self-aware, gruesome, hilarious, and fun. The bloodshed is so in-your-face & tongue-in-cheek that it is difficult not to laugh.

Totally Killer has been compared to 2015’s The Final Girls by the film’s director, Todd Strauss-Schulson.

While the new trailer highlights certain parallels between the two films, it also highlights some crucial contrasts in its primary characters, comic tone, and depiction of the 1980s era.
