The Other Black Girl’s crazy and twisted journey ended in the Season 1 finale. The Other Black Girl, adapted from Zakiya Dalila’s novel of the same name, follows Nella Rogers, an ambitious young lady whose primary motive for joining Wagner Books is Kendra Rae Phillips.
Phillips was an editor at a publishing firm in 1988, and she edited Nella’s all-time favorite book, “Burning Heart.” Kendra was Nella’s motivation, and despite being the only Black woman employed there, she remained optimistic.
Nella’s ambition was simple: she intended to publish stories empowering young Black females. But she was mired in a rut at the time, working closely alongside assistant editor Vera Parini.
Nella’s profession forced her to approve troublesome Black characters created by white male writers who could not admit their defective viewpoint, and she despised every minute of it.
Nella’s world was turned upside down when she met Hazel-May McCall, the newly appointed personal assistant of assistant editor Maisy Glendower.
The Other Black: Who saved Nella?
As we approach the tenth episode of The Other Black Girl, it is clear that Hazel is the bad guy, working for the titular organization, which focuses on infiltrating workplaces and making Black women more submissive to make them more accommodating in the workplace setting.
In The Other Black Girl Episode 10, Nella is apprehended by members of the organization, thanks to Hazel. She is kidnapped by Dianna, a long-time mastermind behind everything, who wants Nella for Jesse Waston’s book launch.
Nella is determined not to become a part of this, so Diana begs Hazel to assist Nella in being a member of their team by utilizing their product to calm her down.
However, before anything wrong can happen to Nella, Kendra Rae Phillips, spotted at the beginning of the episode and assumed dead, returns and saves her.

How did Nella plan to stop the publication of Jesse’s book?
Nella suggests releasing the book before Diana and Richard can perform their PR spin because, without Jesse’s support, his fans would shun him, and the book would flop.
Nella can spy on the workplace, but she cuts her palm and needs to go to the toilet to clean it up. Hazel catches Nella while washing her hands and questions her about whether Diana is beneficial for them.
Everyone is surprised when Nella comes to Wagner Books the following day. She stated that Diana and Richard persuaded her to return and that she believes in Jesse’s book and is eager to promote it.

What happens in the final scene of The Other Black Girl?
The final scene in The Other Black Girl explains why Nella is where she is. She has contacted Kendra Rae and is ready to demolish the organization.
Jesse is seen getting into a car, and as he turns around, he notices Malaika and inquires why she is in the car. The camera moves to the front, where Kendra Rae is driving, and we see her grab a Taser pistol and taze him.
