Silverstone has opened for the start of filming for the Brad Pitt-starring, Lewis Hamilton-produced F1-inspired motion picture.
It’s no secret that Formula 1 served as the basis for several films highlighting the actual character and rivalries of the sport. However, none of them even come close to matching how much “Apex,” starring Lewis Hamilton and Brad Pitt, captures the actual rush of driving an F1 vehicle.
This week, filming on the movie, a partnership between Apple Studios and Lewis Hamilton’s production business, Dawn Apollo Films, began at the renowned Silverstone racecourse.
As part of the production, the filmmakers added an 11th team to the field and even drove a modified F2 vehicle that looked eerily similar to an F1 car for a few laps.
Brad Pitt is filming his next Formula One movie this weekend while he attends the British Grand Prix. The Hollywood superstar will play a former F1 driver who visits the track to support a promising new driver to acquire footage for the film.
A specially adapted F2 vehicle was piloted at Silverstone while a faux pit garage was constructed. Since the movie is currently under pre-production, An official date for the release has not been announced yet.
However, the film is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2024 or the beginning of 2025. ct. An experienced racer, Sonny Hayes, played by Brad Pitt, was returning to competitive racing in the yet-to-be-titled movie.
His relationship with his rising colleague Joshua Pierce, played by Damson Idris, is the focus of the main subplot. Hamilton has even hinted that viewers could see him in a brief cameo appearance in the film.

Will F1 drivers and Brad Pitt compete in the British Grand Prix in 2023?
Brad Pitt’s automobile for his F1-inspired movie debuted on Thursday when Formula 1 posted the first photographs of it on their official social media accounts. Throughout the British Grand Prix weekend, Pitt will be behind the vehicle’s wheel, according to Sky Sports.
According to the source, the fictitious Apex team has been assigned a garage in the pit lane at Silverstone that is situated between the Mercedes and Ferrari garages.
Pitt will be there at Silverstone even though he won’t compete in the British Grand Prix. The vehicle will be used for shooting at Silverstone when being driven between sessions.
But before the race, Pitt was seen in a photo with Hamilton, Charles Leclerc, and Pierre Gasly at the drivers’ briefing. After last time’s Sprint weekend in Austria was exhilarating, Formula 1 moved to the legendary Silverstone track for the British GP in 2023.
Three practice sessions will be run before Saturday’s qualifying session, as is customary in Formula 1 for the British Grand Prix. Max Verstappen of RedBull enters the race weekend as the leader in the standings and aims to keep up his pursuit of a third straight world championship.
Both drivers will fight for the fictional APXGP team in the film, which is out to change the sport.
Additionally, the movie will be able to smoothly blend with actual F1 events thanks to the on-track filming, which may include cameo appearances by drivers, team owners, and other significant paddock players.
