The Magician’s Elephant is an animated film from Netflix based on the beloved book by two-time Newbery Medal winner Kate DiCamillo about a boy hunting for his long-lost sister who must first locate an elephant to aid him in his search; it has debuted a trailer and critical art.

Streamers will start offering the 3DCG movie on March 17. The movie is an adaptation of the same-titled novel by Kate DiCamillo, published in 2009, which follows the tale of Peter, a child searching for his long-lost sister Adele (voiced in the movie by Noah Jupe) (Pixie Davies).

Peter is perplexed when a fortune teller suggests he follow the magician’s elephant to find his sister. However, Peter is determined to follow the elephant wherever it goes after it unintentionally falls from the sky at a magic show one day, leading him to Adele.

The tale’s protagonist is a young orphan named Peter Augustus Duchene, who resides in Baltese with his guardian.

One day, he overhears a fate teller telling a client that his long-lost sister is still alive and that he may find her by tracking an elephant. Peter goes out to find the elephant because he is desperate to find his sister, but he quickly learns that the animal belongs to a magician named Leo Matienne.

An enigmatic and eccentric man named Leo Matienne promises to assist Peter in his search for his sister, but only if Peter can demonstrate that he genuinely wants to do it.

They encounter intriguing people along the route, including a nun, a soldier, and a beggar. As the plot develops, Peter and Leo are forced to face their anxieties and skepticism as they look into Peter’s sister and the magical elephant.

The movie’s idea is briefly conveyed to the audience in the trailer, making it very simple for viewers to support Peter immediately. A fortune teller advises a little kid named Peter, who is looking for his long-lost sister, to follow the magicians’ elephant in the trailer.

The King begs the elephant to assist him in return for Peter completing a series of seemingly tricky feats. In a setting with animation reminiscent of Netflix’s Pinocchio or perhaps Laika Studios’ ParaNorman, the youngster makes his way through the streets of his town on a desperate journey to find his sister.

Benedict Wong, who plays the title magician in the movie, Sian Clifford, and Brian Tyree Henry round out the voice cast.

Together with Sian Clifford and Davies, the voice cast also features Dawn French, Natasia Demetriou, Brian Tyree Henry, Jupe, Aasif Mandvi, Mandy Patinkin, Miranda Richardson, Cree Summer, Lorraine Toussaint, and Wong.

Julia Pistor is the film’s producer, while Wendy Rogers is the director. In addition, author Martin Hynes is involved. Animal Logic is creating the animation.
