Amidst the number of superhero films releasing in 2023, one of the most significant is Shazam Fury of the Gods.
This upcoming superhero movie is centered upon the titular DC Comics character. David F. Sandberg directed this film the plot of which revolves around the fight between Billy Batson and his foster siblings and the Daughters of Atlas, the latter of whom want to use weapons that are able to destroy the whole world.
The title of the series comes from the word that turns Batson and his foster siblings into superheroes- “Shazam!”.

When Is Shazam Fury of the Gods Releasing?
The movie is set to be the sequel to the 2019 superhero movie ‘Shazam!’ serving as the twelfth installment of DCEU.
Henry Gayden was announced to be returning as a writer in April of 2019 right after the successful opening of the prequel. In June Zachary Levi was confirmed to be returning to reprise the titular role in the sequel.
Primary filming of the movie started on May 26, 2021, and after some delay due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the filming concluded on August 31, 2021.
Initially, the movie was set to be released on April 1, 2022, by Warner Bros. Pictures. It was first delayed and was set to be released on November 4, 2022, and was again delayed now to be released on March 17, 2023.

Cast of Upcoming Movie ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’:
Zachary Levi-
American actor Zachary Levi will be reprising the protagonist and titular Billy Batson aka Shazam in the upcoming movie. Some of his other film credits include ‘Spiral’, ‘Shades of Ray’, ‘Tangled’, ‘Remember Sunday’, ‘She Loves Me’, ‘Office Uprising’, ‘American Underdog’, ‘Apollo 10 1⁄2: A Space Age Childhood’ etc.
Besides ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’, Levi is also cast in the upcoming films ‘Harold and the Purple Crayon’, ‘Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget’, ‘The Unbreakable Boy’, ‘And spy Kids: Armageddon’.
From 2002 to 2006 Levi played the main character of Kipp Steadman in the American tv sitcom ‘Less than Perfect’.
Playing the titular lead role of Chuck Bartowski, Levi was seen in the action comedy spy drama series ‘Chuck’ from 2007 to 2012.
In 2015 he starred as the main character Luke Collins in the American television series ‘Heroes Reborn’, a continuation of NBC’s superhero serial ‘Heroes’. From 2015 to 2016 Levi starred as the recurring character James McMahon in the single-camera sitcom ‘Telenovela’ 2015 to 2016.
In the miniseries adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s same-named 1996 novel ‘Alias Grace’, Levi played Jeremiah Pontelli in 2017.
Then from 2018 to 2019, he was cast in the recurring character Dr. Benjamin Ettenberg in the second season of the period comedy-drama series ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel‘.
Jack Dylan Grazer-
The character of one of the members of the Shazam family Frederick “Freddy” Freeman will be reprised by American actor Jack Dylan Grazer in the upcoming movie from the previous 2019 prequel.
His other film credits include ‘Beautiful Boy’, ‘Don’t Tell a Soul’, ‘Dreamin’ Wild’, etc. Grazer is also set to star as Mitch in another upcoming movie ‘Downtown Owl’ which is set to be released in 2023.
From 2017 to 2018 he played the main role of Young Alex Riley in the CBS sitcom ‘Me, Myself & I’. Grazer was also cast as Fraser Wilson in the 2020 coming-of-age miniseries ‘We Are Who We Are’.
She is set to star as the main character Thimbletack in the upcoming tv series ‘The Spiderwick Chronicles’.
Rachel Zegler-
American actress Rachel Zegler will play Anthea, daughter of Atlas in the upcoming movie. She starred in the 2021 musical romantic drama movie ‘West Side Story’ as Maria.
Ross Butler-
The role of Billy’s younger foster Eugene Choi will be reprised by American actor Ross Butler in the upcoming movie from the prequel.
Butler played the main role of Zach Dempsey in the popular Netflix series ‘13 Reasons Why‘ from 2017 to 2020. He also starred in the series ‘K.C. Undercover’, ‘Riverdale‘, ‘Swimming with Sharks’, etc.
Meagan Good-
The role of Billy’s younger foster sister Darla Dudley will be reprised by American actress Meagan Good in the upcoming movie from the prequel.
Her other film credits include ‘Eve’s Bayou’, ‘Roll Bounce’, ‘Stomp the Yard’, ‘Think Like a Man’ etc.
Lucy Liu-
Another daughter of Atlas Kalypso will be played by American actress Lucy Liu in the upcoming movie. Her film credits include ‘Shanghai Noon’, ‘Charlie’s Angels’, ‘Chicago’, ‘Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle’, ‘Kill Bill: Volume 1’ etc.
Djimon Hounsou-
In the upcoming movie Beninese-American actor and Academy Award nominee Djimon Hounsou will reprise the role of Shazam, the Council of Wizards’ last surviving member who bestows his powers on Billy.
His most acclaimed film credits include ‘In America’, ‘Blood Diamond’, ‘Amistad’, ‘Gladiator’ etc.
Helen Mirren-
Daughter of Atlas, Hespera, will be portrayed by Academy Award winner English actress Helen Mirren in the upcoming movie.
