The plot is set nearly two hundred years of the events of the original series and before one hundred seventy-two years of the “last” Targaryen heir Daenerys Targaryen’s birth. It tells the story of the in-house rivalry of the once-almighty Targaryen house that led to its downfall.

The series has focused on two leading women characters Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower and succeeded in doing what most series and films become unable to do, even its predecessor series- to depict a true women’s perspective.
