The upcoming movie ‘Somebody I Used to Know’ is an American romantic comedy film that is scheduled to arrive in 2023. Dave Franco has directed this movie that revolves around a woman named Ally.

Ally is a workaholic woman who has made a trip to her hometown. There she reunites with Sean, her ex-boyfriend, which leads her to question the choices that she has made in her life.

This feeling is intensified after meeting Cassidy. Cassidy is a younger woman in which Ally can see the reflection of her past self. But things get more complicated as Cassidy is the one with whom Sean is now engaged.

When Is ‘Somebody I Used to Know’ Releasing?

The film was planned in August of 2021 as an adaptation of a screenplay that Dave Franco wrote with Alison Brie.

The same month Amazon Studios was announced to distribute the film with Brie, Kiersey Clemons, and Jay Ellis joining the cast of the film. The rest of the cast members joined the cast in September of that year.

Primary filming began around that month and was wrapped up in August 2022. Director Dave Franco has said that the movie is inspired by the romantic comedies of the ’80s and ’90s.

The official trailer of the movie was released on YouTube by Amazon Prime Video on January 12, 2023. The film is scheduled to be released on Prime Video on February 10, 2023.

In the role of the protagonist Ally, we will see American actress Alison Brie in the movie. Her film credits include ‘Parasomnia‘, ‘The Coverup‘, ‘Raspberry Magic‘, ‘Scream 4‘, ‘Save the Date’, ‘The Five-Year Engagement’, ‘Montana Amazon’, ‘The Kings of Summer’, ‘Search Party’, ‘Sleeping with Other People’, ‘Get Hard’, ‘No Stranger Than Love’, ‘Joshy’, ‘How to Be Single’, ‘Get a Job’, ‘A Family Man’, ‘The Post’, ‘The Little Hours’, ‘The Disaster Artist’, ‘Promising Young Woman’, ‘Horse Girl’, ‘The Rental’, ‘Happiest Season’, ‘Spin Me Round’ etc.

Beside ‘Somebody I Used to Know’, Brie will also be seen starring in another upcoming movie ‘Freelance’ which is Pierre Morel’s action comedy film.

From 2007 to 2015 Brie was cast as Trudy Campbell in the American period drama series ‘Mad Men.

In the American sitcom ‘Community’ she starred as Annie Edison from 2009 to 2015. She also gave voice to the character of Diane Nguyen and other various characters in the popular adult animated black comedy series ‘BoJack Horseman‘ from 2014 to 2020.

Then from 2017 to 2019, Brie was cast as Ruth Wilder in the comedy-drama series ‘GLOW’.

In the role of Cassidy, we will see American actress Kiersey Clemons in the upcoming movie. Her breakout role was in the 2015 coming-of-age comedy-drama movie ‘Dope’ in which she was cast as Cassandra Andrews or Diggy.

Her other films include ‘Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising‘, ‘The Only Living Boy in New York‘, ‘Flatliners’, ‘Little Bitches’, ‘Hearts Beat Loud’, ‘An L.A. Minute’, ‘Sweetheart’, ‘Lady and the Tramp’, ‘Antebellum’, ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’, ‘Am I Ok?’ etc. The character that she created in the 2021 movie ‘Justice League’, will be reprised by her in the 2023 upcoming film ‘The Flash’.

From 2013 to 2015 Ellis was cast as the main character Bryce “Blueprint” Westbrook in the American tv series ‘The Game‘. From 2016 to 2021 he portrayed Martin “Lawrence” Walker as the main cast member in the first, second, fourth, and fifth seasons of the American comedy-drama series ‘Insecure’ and as a guest cast in season three.
