Aidan Gallagher: Top 9 Movies and Shows

Aidan Gallagher is an actor, singer, and campaigner who has quickly established a significant name for himself.

The star of Nickelodeon’s “Nicky, Rick, Dicky & Dawn” when he was just 11 years old, Gallagher has grown up in front of the camera and in the spotlight. He departed the Nickelodeon network in 2019 to play a part in the Netflix super-family adventure show “The Umbrella Academy,” where his tired demeanor and love of verbal and physical humor have won him praise. He even has a sizable online following known as the #aidansarmy.

Gallagher has acted in a broad range of sitcoms, short films, and TV specials, yet he is still best known for “Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn” and “The Umbrella Academy.” He also works as a climate change activist and writes acoustic pop songs off-camera.

Here is the list of Aidan Gallagher: Top 9 Movies and Shows.

1. The Umbrella Academy – Aidan Gallagher as Number Five / The Boy

If Number Five, the adolescent boy/old man superhero from “The Umbrella Academy,” who can teleport, travel through time, enjoy coffee, and stop the apocalypse, isn’t the role Aidan Gallagher was meant to play, it’s certainly his first significant role.

Additionally, it’s the first role that really makes use of his adept physique. The way Gallagher conducts himself in this scene is peculiar, bordering on uncanny, particularly how he squares his jaw and allows his startlingly bright eyes to get shaded.

It blends in with the mid-century sci-fi look of the program and supports the idea that this adolescent has been a time-traveling assassin for many years.

2. Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn – Aidan Gallagher as Nicky

IMDb

“Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn,” the tale of four quadruplets whose love for trouble is only surpassed by their affection for one another, became a smash for Nickelodeon.

Nicky, who is portrayed by Aidan Gallagher, stands out from his brothers right away, and not only due to the stark contrast between his black hair and their filthy blonde locks. Nicky is the most reserved and self-conscious member of the quads. And it never seems to stop him from joining in on his siblings’ mischief.

The performers’ roles were allowed to mature alongside them as the seasons progressed and they matured into adulthood. Nicky takes up the role of the family chef, and his meticulousness in the kitchen occasionally causes him to clash with his relatives.

Over the course of the sitcom’s 4 seasons, Gallagher establishes himself as a competent and likable comic performer. It’s evident in every episode that he’s bound for big things — yet few Nickelodeon fans of the time could have readily imagined him on a kid-unfriendly show like “The Umbrella Academy.”

3. You & Me – Aidan Gallagher as Nicky Harper

You & Me
IMDb

Following William  and Alice, a devoted elderly couple who are involved in a serious vehicle accident on a wet day is the 2013 short film “You & Me.” The movie goes back to earlier times in their lives, from their wedding in the late 1950s through their years of childrearing in the 1970s, as they struggle to stay alive and to each other in the hospital.

Their child David, who is portrayed by Jon Eric Preston in the present-day narrative, is portrayed by Aidan Gallagher at a younger age. Gallagher challenges his father in his one scene about the affluent, career-focused life he gave up to have a family.

This scene, like the rest of the movie, teases the audience with intriguing subtleties, such as the sorrow in William’s remarks as he sees Dan Rather speak on Watergate.

In the end, “You & Me” concludes on a family-focused note, which is good for Gallagher. He clicks particularly well with Tyler Blackburn, who portrays young William on “Pretty Little Liars.” This is unquestionably Gallagher’s strongest work prior to “Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn.”

4. Paradise Run

Ever since the days of “Double Dare” and “Wild & Crazy Kids,” hijinks-filled obstacle course game shows have been a mainstay of Nickelodeon television. Three seasons of “Paradise Run” carry on that tradition, bringing Nick celebrities and everyday children ziplining, sliding, and sprinting around a posh Hawaiian resort.

In season two’s “A Nick Showdown in Paradise,” the actors of “Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn” and “The Thundermans” face off instead of the usual youngsters. Co-star Casey Simpson is teamed with Aidan Gallagher.

They gain an early advantage in the first task, drop to third place, then come back to win by a hair’s breadth.

Despite not coming out on top, Gallagher does better in this show than any of the Nickelodeon holiday specials because he adeptly adapts to the reality game show structure while competing on behalf of the Oceanic Preservation Society.

5. Nickelodeon’s Ho Ho Holiday Special

The 2015 “Ho Ho Holiday Special,” the very first of Nickelodeon’s late-’10s holiday programs, gave Gallagher the opportunity to develop. Jingles and Tinsel, two Christmas elves, relate the tale of a gang of Nick stars who receive an invitation to an eerie house on Christmas Eve.

There, in order to escape, they must resolve riddles and face challenges. Gallagher finds himself alone in a room with Jade Pettyjohn from “Henry Danger,” Jack Griffo from “The Thundermans,” and Isabela Merced from “Dora the Explorer.”

6. We Make That Lemonade

From Season 1 of “Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn,” comes this hip-hop spoof in the manner of The Lonely Island. It shows the titular quadruplets raking in large sums of money from, where else, their curbside lemonade shop.

The young performers provide good performances in this adorable and witty short. In reality, it would be higher on the list if Aidan Gallagher’s role in this film were more significant.

Aside from a funny moment where he stares at the camera and lowers his piggy bank like he’s tossing the microphone, Gallagher only gets a few phrases to call his own.

7. Nickelodeon’s Sizzling Summer Camp Special

The young performers from Nickelodeon’s stable appeared in a number of holiday-themed variety programs as fictionalized versions of themselves. A flimsy premise holds ’s entire thing together as they sing and act in skits.

In 2017’s “Sizzling Summer Camp Special,” which also featured a brief cameo by Aidan Gallagher, their inclusion makes the least amount of sense.

Gallagher only makes an appearance in the cutaway music video for the song “Worst Guy at the Beach.” His “Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn” co-stars all play significant roles in the main plot, which follows a summer camp full of Nick stars who are terrorized by a woodland monster known as Big hand. He performs as a dancer and chorus member for “The Thundermans” lead vocalist Kira Kosarin.

8. Modern Family – Aidan Gallagher as Alec

Modern Family
Netflix Junkie

In “The Wow Factor,” a Fourth season episode of the popular ABC comedy “Modern Family,” Mitchell confronts a bully at his daughter’s school who plays handball.

A very young Aidan Gallagher plays the bully Milo in an unacknowledged and non-speaking role as he dominates the handball court and beats every child who attempts to play him. Milo is introduced in this scene.

Gallagher gives it his best despite the fact that this is more of a highlighted extra role than a real guest part: He is tremendously pouty as he rests on the playground seat in defeat. To the consternation of his fellow parents, Mitchell wins a handball game against Milo and revels in it a bit too much.

9. Jacked Up – Aidan Gallagher as Evan

Even the most devoted member of the #aidansarmy is unlikely to have seen “Jacked Up.” The fact that “Jacked Up” wasn’t ever truly released is not a cause for shame.

The protagonist of the show is Jack, a professional baseball player who is adjusting to life after retirement. Missi Pyle from “Galaxy Quest” and Tyne Daly from “Judging Amy” was slated to appear alongside Gallagher as Evan in “Jacked Up.”

Unfortunately, the “Jacked Up” production did not materialize, despite images from the set being available on the show’s IMDb profile.

This happens frequently; countless comedy pilots are created and filmed only to be rejected for broadcast. This pilot was rejected by CBS, and as a result, neither it has been broadcast nor made available online.
