Marvel’s Midnight Suns Launch Date, Gameplay, Characters, Maps, and More

Marvel’s Midnight Suns, releasing on December 2, already has the reputation of being XCOM meets X-Men because it is developed by Firaxis Games. According to Jake Solomon, the game’s creative director, it isn’t.

Despite the fact that both are turn-based strategy games, only one of them was developed in collaboration with the strongest storytellers in video games—the players themselves. It is challenging to top a story that a player invents for themselves, Solomon told Polygon.

The dynamic storylines that players created for their teams in XCOM: Enemy Unknown from 2012 and XCOM 2 from 2016 are what give those games their special appeal.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns were given a March 2022 release date during the Gamescom presentation in 2021. It was postponed, though, until Summer Game Fest, when it received the current release date of October 7, 2022.

Unfortunately, that timeframe didn’t hold up, thus the game will now only be released within the current fiscal season. Thank goodness, the game won’t be delayed past 2022.

The new, and presumably last, the release date for both Marvel’s Midnight Suns is December 2, 2022, for current-generation consoles. There is no release date yet for the versions of the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

The character development in Marvel’s Midnight Suns, a standout across, is really put to use in the fight, thus none of the skills should come as a surprise. This implies that everyone behaves as you would like them to, offering you specific tactical benefits based on who users bring.

It can also be leveled up over time in between missions, along with improvements for playing cards and some amusing suits and color schemes to design your heroes with.

Midnight Suns’ story isn’t all that thrilling, it must be said. I thought the first act’s characters were engaging in standard generic comic book shenanigans based on the roles I performed. It’s not terrible, but as a player, I don’t feel the need to stop Lillith and save the planet.

The antagonist in the 2016 Suicide Squad film resembled Enchantress in terms of her menacing vibe. She serves as more or less a platform for the action, which is okay.

Even if some characters seem to be leaning on their MCU counterparts a little bit more than others, the heroes themselves are as endearing as you’d hope with solid group dynamics and original banter.

In order to ensure familiarity and that you possess people here who embody these icons, it also pays that only actors like Yuri Lowenthal are reprising his role as Spider-Man from Marvel’s Spider-Man (although it’s not the same version of the character).

Instead of attempting to mimic the MCU, these games have instead found incredibly excellent performers in this field to try and establish that standard for these personalities in games.
