After Ego challenges Squad Z to “take up a weapon,” the team members are all attempting to figure out their weapon on the soccer field. While the rest of his squad rapidly discovers their weapon, Isagi needs help finding a solution.
Finally, Isagi does discover what he believes to be his weapon, his ability to detect “the scent of the objective.” Isagi appears to be a team player. Therefore it’s been adorable to see him concentrate on growing himself instead of focusing on his teammates.
While Isagi’s journey to uncover his skills and powers is compelling, the finest part of Blue Lock Episode 4 is seeing the entire squad attempt to achieve the same thing while still playing as a team.
The delicate balance of individual growth vs. the risk of being removed as a team is performed flawlessly. It compels each character to limit their development to remain in the Blue Lock program, even though the overarching purpose is to attain as much personal achievement as possible.
Blue Lock’s character interactions are also quite complex, with even small people playing vital roles.

Ohkawa continued to rush with the ball toward Team Z’s goal in Blue Lock episode 4. Iemon attempted but failed to stop him. Finally, Hibiki scored a goal, giving his squad all the motivation they needed to keep going. Team Y began to play more defensively, not attempting to achieve another goal because they were already leading.
Before the match resumed, Yoichi realized that the brain behind Team Y’s strategy was Niko, not Ohkawa. So he sprinted as fast as possible to stop the ball from reaching Ikki. Yoichi attempted to score after possessing the ball, but the goalie stopped him.
Fortunately, Gagamaru was nearby and scored a goal. Niko approached Isagi, congratulating him on recognizing that he was Team Y’s true ace. The fourth episode of Blue Lock finished with Isagi and Ikki looking each other down and attempting to intimidate one other.
