Ms. Marvel Episode 2: Review & Plotline Update

Ms. Marvel Episode 2, titled Crush, gave us plenty of Marvel surprises, hidden details, and references that one might have missed. So we are going to hunt down the treasure of comics in episode 2.

In episode 2, we have seen that after accidentally debuting her superpower at avenger con, Kamala is on cloud nine. A redo of her day at school from episode 1, but instead of being a doormat she stands up for herself at every turn.

Naki refers to whoever saved Zoe as the budget Captain Marvel and this is fitting because when Kamala first got her powers in the comic, she used her shape-shifting ability to make herself look like Carol Danvers.

For the nature of her power, she guesses that she might be Asgardian and she speculates that she could have ant-man powers. At one point she refers to her energy constructs as an idea come to life but in the comic, her power does share a kinship with ant-man sort of.

Kamala was exposed to the terrigen mists which activated latent inhuman genes inside of her, she then gained polymorphing powers that allowed her to shrink and embi in her body. In Fact, she tried to embiggening her first at one point in episode 2, but she lacks the super strength to actually lift it.

Also, Bruno plays super lucky tail on his phone using an Xbox controller which inspires Kamala to make a light platform of her own using her hard light powers.

They headed to the rooftop for a training session, by using an application Bruno determined that her bangle unlocked the superhuman part of Kamala referencing her latent inhuman genes from the comics.

Talking about her bangle, Kamala is unable to identify the language. The pink-purple Negative zone that she saw is a dimension of antimatter parallel to our owner in the comics.

The mosque, the Islamic masjid of jersey city, and Sheik Abdullah are both straight from the comics. Kamala’s outfit and her ushanka hat and the scene where someone tricked her to drink vodka are also mentioned in the comic. Also, the introduction of Kamala’s crush Kamran, and the chemistry between them during their first meeting are direct references.

In the comic, Kamran also has terrigen-derived power, but for now, he simply has the power to relentlessly charm her. The inability to control power in school actually happened in the comic series.

The reaction caused by the bangle causing Kamala to have a vision of a strange woman beckoning toward her with the sound of a train is the most important part of episode 2.

It will be interesting for the viewers to explore more power of Kamala with the introduction of mystery characters and how they will affect her life.
