Vox Media produced this American documentary limited series which serves as a spin-off of the 2018 Vox Media tv series ‘Explained’. The series attempts to explain to its viewers the complete circle of s*x and in that way tries to demystify the process of s*x.

Mystification of the act of s*x causes unnecessary taboo about it and often results in s*xual disease and unwanted outcomes, especially among teenagers. S*xual mystification also affects a lot of women by turning them into objects of s*xual fantasy.

The show tries to eradicate these deep-rooted aspects regarding s*x. It talks about the biological side of attraction and spreads awareness about consent. Also, the show chronicles the history of the ways birth control worked and was used in the past. Ultimately it explores the inside and outside working of the act of s*x.

Myths about fertility as well as the medical solutions to problems surrounding it and the process of childbirth with all its ups and downs are also navigated in the series.

The five episodes of the series are titled ‘S*xual Fantasies’, Attraction’, ‘Birth Control’, ‘Fertility’, ‘Childbirth’. Janelle Monáe is the narrator of the show.

Other people from various backgrounds appearing in the show are psychologist Lisa Diamond, s*x researcher Justin Lehmiller, OB-GYN Joy-Sarah Vink, economist Shareen Joshi, activist Loretta Ross, s*x educator Yin Q., medical anthropologist Marcia Inhorn, etc. The series was released on January 2, 2020, on Netflix.
