Selena Gomez Updates: According to the Press Release, Selena Gomez impressed fans with her stunning appearance while promoting the swimwear brand.
The brand’s owners, Theresa Mingus and Morgan Brutocao asked the 28-year-old singer to add her touch on a six-style collaboration, which will debut on July 3.
Earlier this week, Gomez teased the collection on Instagram, writing, “Something big is happening on Saturday…@lamariette,” alongside what looks to be a behind-the-scenes photo from the session. Gomez is sporting hot pink makeup, a vibrant top, and the same lime green nail paint she is wearing in the commercial in the close-up.
According to a news release, Mingus and Brutocao launched La’Mariette with the goal of catering to a broader size range than many high-end swimwear businesses did at the time. “The brand intended to help women feel empowered by their bodies rather than ashamed of them,” according to the press release.
“It was incredibly enjoyable for us to play around with making swimsuits because [the founders] and I love being outside so much,” Selena explained.

When it came to selecting designs for the collection, the Lose You to Love Me singer stated that she wanted to step outside of her comfort zone, saying: “After looking through swatches, my favorite color was purple; I wanted to avoid hues I was used to, such as red and white. Purple had a different vibe for me. And we added flashes of color like green and neons here and there to make it truly your own suit, however you wear it.”
The new collection’s ad was shot on film, and it features the “Lose You to Love Me” singer modeling the pieces with the platinum blonde hair she’s been sporting on and off recently.
Gomez is the ideal model for that sentiment: after all, she wore the brand’s aptly called “Selena” zip-up one-piece for the first time when she revealed the scar from her kidney transplant. “Now, more than ever, I’m confident in who I am and what I’ve been through…and I’m proud of it,” she wrote at the time. “[Theresa] – I’d want to thank you for taking the time to read this congratulation on what you’re doing for women by founding @lamariette, whose message is simple: “All bodies are beautiful.”
